Some MTL vapes are too loose for some people. However, this new pen from GeekVape addresses this issue. The draws on this thing are tremendous, as are the high resistance coils. GeekVape G18 is the perfect pen for people who want something flavorful and simple.

GeekVape G18 Review

This GeekVape G18 vape pen has a lot going for it. It has a powerful battery that will last most of the day and a simple single-button design that is clicky and responsive. It has adjustable bottom airflow and a nice set of coils that produce high amounts of flavor on the tighter airflow settings.

Vapor Production

GeekVape G18

This is not a device for producing clouds, but it is no slouch on the looser airflow settings. However, open airflow is not very good for the flavor.

Safety Features

  • Overtime Protection
  • Low Battery Protection
  • Overheating Protection

GeekVape G18 Starter Pen Kit

The GeekVape G18 kit comes in a 6 x 5 box that is a little too big for what is inside. Nevertheless, it has the complete set of essentials:

GeekVape G18 Blue

  • GeekVape G18 Battery
  • 2 ml G18 Atomizer
  • Type C USB Charging Cable
  • G Series MTL Coil 1.2 ohm (Preinstalled)
  • G Series MTL Coil 1.8 ohm

Internal Build Quality and Design

The battery section is 88 mm tall with a top and base made of chrome and a spring-loaded 510 connection that is internally threaded. The threads are very smooth, and there should be no trouble putting the pod on the mod. However, there is a problem with the threading that can lead to trouble. More on that below. As for leaking, there haven’t been any problems.

As for design and appearance, GeekVape G18 is small enough to be easily portable and comfortably fits the hand. There is some branding, but it is nothing obnoxious.

Battery

The battery is 1,300 mah, which is pretty good for a pen-sized vape. One thing about the battery is that as it loses power, the flavor starts to diminish.

GeekVape G18 Tank Features

It is up for debate whether this is a pod or a tank, but it will be referred to as a tank from this moment on. The tank has 2 ml of liquid capacity, which is not bad when considering this is not a high voltage device.

The first thing users will notice is the transparent glass, which makes it easy to monitor juice levels, and the 510 pin is gold-plated, resulting in better connectivity.

GeekVape G18 Open

The tank has a 510 drip tip, and the hole is 3.5 mm wide, which makes it ideal for mouth-to-lung vaping. It screws off to reveal two refilling ports that are not very wide. Also, the drip tip is one piece combined with the top cap, so try not to lose it.

One complaint is that while the threading is smooth, it is plastic and is vulnerable to stripping. If it strips, good luck ever getting the drip tip on again. Be very careful when removing it.

Coils

The GeekVape G18 starter kit comes with 1.2 and 1.8 ohm G-Series coils. The 1.2 ohm coil provided excellent flavor on the tightest airflow setting, and the mid-airflow setting was not that bad either. However, in the most least restrictive setting, the flavor was too diluted.

The airflow settings for the 1.8 ohm coils had the same results. The airflow is best on the tight and intermediate settings, but the open airflow diluted the flavor too much.

Compatible Liquids

These coils are best with 50/50 vegetable glycerin to propylene glycol liquids. 10 mg of nicotine should be more than sufficient.

How Long Do the GeekVape G18 Coils Last?

This vape does not burn too hot, so the GeekVape G18 coils should last as long as any other type. Expect to get a week or more out of them, depending on how often they are used and the voltage settings chosen.

Airflow

The airflow is located beneath the glass, and it rotates to reveal different sized holes. The smallest and mid sized holes are the best to use for getting the most flavor possible from each drag. As earlier stated, though, the highest airflow is a bit too airy to enjoy these high resistance, low wattage coils.

How to Use the GeekVape G18 Starter Kit

This is an easy device to use, making it an ideal vape for novices and experienced users alike.
The base screws off to reveal the coil, which comes with one preinstalled.

GeekVape G18 Colors

  1. Remove the coil and prime it by dripping several drops of nicotine liquid inside.
  2. Let it sit for a minute or two, and then push it inside the tank, ensuring it is entirely inside.
  3. With the coil inside the tank, unscrew the drip tip.
  4. Turn the drip tip slowly so as not to cross-thread it with the metal threads.
  5. The fill ports beneath are too small for regular bottles, so better to fill them using a syringe.
  6. After filling the tank, let it sit for five to ten minutes before taking a vape.
  7. After that time has expired, use the button combinations below to use it.

Button Combinations

Press the firing button five times to turn the device on and off, and press it three times to cycle through the voltage settings. The settings are 3.1, 3.4, and 3.7 volts.

Competing Starter Kit Products

GeekVape G18 vs. Wenax Stylus Pen Starter Kit

The Wenax Stylus is a good pen vape, too, and one of its advantages is that the starter kit comes with a lower resistance coil that can handle slightly higher wattages.

However, it has some build quality issues that make it difficult to remove the coils. The G18 is a much easier vape to use.

GeekVape G18 vs. Smok Vape Pen Nord 19 Starter Kit

The Nord 19 is for MTL users who want a more airy and warmer vape, but it comes with a 1.4 ohm coil that is great for low wattage hits.

The best thing about the Nord 19 is that it comes with three coils, and there are very few starter kits like that.

Pros&Cons

The Positives

  • Good battery life
  • Portable and ergonomic
  • Easy to use

The Negatives

  • Plastic threading is vulnerable to stripping
  • Refilling slots need to be bigger

Final Thoughts About the Geekvape G18 Starter Pen Kit

The GeekVape G18 pen kit has only one serious con. Those plastic threads were a colossal mistake. Plastic on metal threads never works, and the plastic threads always get stripped. GeekVape should put metal threads inside the 510 drip tip.

Doing that would significantly improve the pen. The only other con is that the refilling slots are too small, but not so small that a syringe will not work.

Even so, this is an outstanding vape kit, especially for people who like very flavorful MTL hits. Plus, the vape pen is small and easy to use, making it perfect for every kind of vaper.
