V2Pro 3-in-1 Vaporizer Pen

Series 3 vape penPrice: $59.99

Although we’re talking about vaporizer pens for oils, sometimes you might want to vape other materials, like dry herbs, too. And if that’s you, the V2 Series 3 premium vapor pen could be the best and most affordable choice. From design to performance, everything about this beautiful, little gadget is highly commendable. In fact, this is one of the best-looking vape pen on our list, available in three colors: black, blue and steel. Based on the industry-leading V2’s smart technology, the pen can produce massive clouds. The reason this pen is only at fourth spot despite great design and ultimate performance is the tiny 1.6 ml tank capacity.

The vape pen has a battery capacity of 650mAh, and 10-sec cutoff time for liquids while the 120-sec cutoff time for loose leaf. If you want high quality and remarkable design at an affordable price, but don’t mind frequent refills, the V2 premium 3 Series vape definitely fits your bill.

Mig Vapor SR 72 Dual Vape Pen Kit

Sr 72 Vape Juice Vape penPrice: $149.95

This is another topnotch vape pen from another topnotch e-cig maker. We totally loved how this kit comes with so many additional accessories and features such as a carrying case and a free 30ml e-liquid bottle. The ego threaded SR72 is a pen for those who want voluminous, flavor-rich vapor for every single puff. Although it comes with a slightly less powerful 1300mAh battery and allows vaping at 1.8ohms, it has a powerful secret up its sleeve: the SR72 clearomizer. The clearomizer is based on a new, cutting-edge technology that has a replaceable Bottom Vertical Coil (BVC), which makes vapor production go through the roof.

This Mig Vapor vape pen is so powerful that it’s recommended for advanced users only. In addition to the powerful technology, the pen has some impressive bells and whistles. For instance, its light changes colors to show the remaining battery level. Another good thing about the SR72 is its large tank, which can hold up to 3 ml of e-juice.

Halo Triton Tank Kit

Halo Triton Vape PenPrice: $49.95

The Triton Tank System by Halo occupies the third spot on our list, thanks to its stylish design and advanced technology. Recommended for new as well as experienced vapers, the pen offers decent power and amazing vaping experience, at a very affordable price. It comes with rather small 2.4 ml tank, and Li-Ion batteries ranging from 400mAh or 1300mAh. The kit also includes a free 30 ml bottle of e-juice of your choice. Halo is known for making compact and very elegant devices, and the Triton Tank speaks for its beautiful design. While the Halo vape pen might not be the most powerful on our list, but it’s really hard to beat it at this price.

Top Vape Pens for Dry Herbs

If the material you vape primarily is dry herbs, vape pens don’t offer the best experience, and we recommend more powerful mods for this. However, we understand that there are be times when you need a more compact, more portable and more concealable device for vaping your flowers, so let’s talk about some of the best vape pens for dry herbs. One thing you should always keep in mind is never to use e-liquid with any of the vape pens for dry herbs (unless it’s a multipurpose pen like the V2 Series 3 vape pen), or you might end up ruining your device.

V2Pro Series 3 Vaporizer Kit

V2 Pro Series 3 Vape Pen KitPrice: $59.99

The Series 3 Vaporizer pen by V2 is basically a 3-in-1 device, that allows you to vape dry herbs as well as e-liquids and wax concentrates. To vape a different medium, all you have to do is use the right cartridge and the pen offers very good experience. Three-in-one operation, great battery life and lightweight design, you get everything for an extremely low price. The only nuisance attached to the V2 Series 3 Vape Pen is that it comes with only the e-liquid cartridge and you will have to buy the loose leaf or wax cartridges separately, which cost a whopping $25. Although the vape pen works flawlessly for all the three mediums, we can only recommend it as a secondary, portable device for serious vapers.

Mig Vapor Matrix Dry Herb Vaporizer

Matrix Dry Herb VapePrice: $149.95

Matrix is the most customizable dry herb vaporizer pen, manufactured by Mig Vapor – an industry leader in vaporizer industry. You won’t find many vape pens that allow you to customize temperature, at best you’ll find a few that have a couple of preset heat settings, and that’s it. However, the Matrix Dry Herb Vape Pen gives you the freedom to choose between 300F and 43F, with an increment of just 1F. When we put the Matrix through its paces, it came as a pleasant surprise that the temperature customization is not just a publicity trick, but it actually works. Dry herb smokers know the endless power such customization brings to them.

But there is a lot more about the Matrix vape pen. It has more than 135 different settings, a digital OLED display screen, and the kit has a bunch of accessories to make the annoying refills and clean ups a breeze. One more thing that we noticed is that because of a unique ceramic heating chamber, Matrix offers a cleaner and softer vapor than the vapor produced by almost every other pen. Again, it’s the high price tag that pushed the pen vaporizer down the list, although it surely is worth every penny.

Cloud V Phantom Premium Vaporizer

Phantom Dry Herb Vape PenPrice: $118.99

If you’re looking for a solid, higher performer dry herb vape pen, and are willing to pay a few extra bucks, the Cloud V Phantom is the way to go. Extremely stylish design, solid build, a variety of shiny colors, and sleek finish, make it look very beautiful and an ideal choice for hipster vapers. The most impressive feature of the Cloud V Phantom dry herb vape pen is its capability to switch between three different heat settings i.e. 374F, 410F and 436F. Also, it has an impressive 90-minute battery life, which is enough to keep you satisfied on the go and the good thing is that the pen charges pretty quickly.

Moreover, it features a ceramic heating chamber that ensures smooth heat transfer from all sides, to offer you a smooth yet rich flavor for every single puff. We also liked the accessories that come with the kit to make refill and clean up easy. Considering the customizable heat settings, great design, and extended battery life, it’s understandable for the vape pen to be expensive. Luckily, its price has come down from $149.99 to $118.99, but still we’d like to see the price tag come a little under a hundred bucks.

Bonus: Mig Vapor Sub-Herb Dry Herb Vape Tank

MigVapor Sub Herb Vape TankPrice: $39.95

What if you already have an e-liquid vape pen, or any e-liquid vaping gear for that matter, and now want to try dry herbs to reach those higher levels of satisfaction?

The good news is that you don’t need to buy a $100+ dry herb vape pen, as all you need is the affordable Sub-Herb Dry Herb Vape Tank by Mig Vapor and turn any sub-ohm vape gear into dry herb vaporizer. This one of a kind tank offers amazing vapor as it features a new ceramic heating technology plus the coil isn’t exposed, so you can get smooth, dense vapor every time. And did we mention it has a ridiculous 3-sec heat up time?

The tank should be used only with any 40-watt non-regulated sub ohm battery, and never use it when your mod is in temperature control mode.

Top Vape Pens for Waxes and Dabs

Mig Vapor Yabba Dabber Wax Vape Pen

Yabba Dabber Dab penPrice: $49.95

When Mig Vapor first launched Yabba Dabber Wax Vape Pen, it instantly attracted every vapers attraction with the amazing power and features it has to offer. Today, it’s still the best vape pen for wax concentrates. It’s an extremely compact pen, based on the latest technology and has a stunning design. It comes with a decent 500 mAh battery that last fairly long, while the advanced ceramic heating plate can bake waxes at an ideal temperature range of 400-455F. The designing team seems to have put a lot of effort into making the pen look good, and it does really look very cool. It’s small, portable and concealable. And guess what the pen is also compatible with dry herbs and offers great vaping experience, although customized mainly for waxes. Based on convection method, it offers a true vaping experience for waxes, and can heat up in just about 3 seconds. And guess what, still it costs just under 50 dollars. The only major downside we noticed is that it can take up to 2 hours to get fully charged.

KandyPens Donuts Wax Vaporizer

KandyPens Donut Vaporizer Pen for Dabs and WaxesPrice: $99.95

Another beautiful, sleek vape pen for waxes is KandyPens Donuts Wax Vaporizer – yeah, it does perform as good as the name sounds. What really takes the flavor and smoothness of the vapor to the next level is KandyPens unique heating technology called SloBurnTM.  Just like the name suggests, it’s a slow burning process initiated by a deep dish all-ceramic chamber (no exposed coil whatsoever). While you might have to wait for a bit for the vape pen to heat up, however, you’ll get much better flavor plus not the least bit of your precious concentrates will burn or go to waste. The pen also features three preset temperature settings so you can customize the whole vaping experience according to you needs.

The vape pen has a stainless steel body, making it virtually unbreakable, and a capacity of 0.5 g, ideal for a wax vape pens. Since it comes with a USB charger, you can charge it virtually anywhere. But the most impressive feature about the pen is the industry leading lifetime warranty, which shows how much faith the manufacturer has in their device.  Just remember that the KandyPens wax vape pen works with aromatic concentrates only.

Hypnos Zero Wax Vaporizer Pen

Hypnos ZeroPrice: $77.99

Hypnos Zero is a more affordable, a more style, and yet a reliable vaporizer pen for wax concentrates. Just like most modern vape pens, it features a ceramic heating element to ensure smooth flavor and avoid any burnt taste. The good thing about Hypnos Zero is that its plate heats up rather quickly as compared to most of its competitors. Also, the heating chamber is very efficient and hardly any part of your concentrate will be wasted. The heating chamber without any exposed coil not only improves flavor, but also makes refilling and cleanup as easy as pie. Since the vape pen has a reinforced ceramic plate, its atomizer has a comparatively longer life span. At a little under 4-inches long, this is one of the smallest vape pens for wax concentrates, yet it’s very powerful and offers four preset temperature levels (low, medium, medium-high, high) to customize your vaping. Compatible with the 510 batteries, it’s made of medical grade stainless steel. The battery is a 650mAh, which takes about two hours to get fully charged. The most commendable thing about the Hypnos vape pen is that it’s made from medical grade components i.e. no plastics, no colors, no fibers. In other words, it’s free of any hazards that come with other vape pens that have plastic or paint on them. Considering all the great features of the Hypnos Zero and the fact that it offers nearly the same vaping experience as some of the more expensive counterparts, it was very hard to put it at the 3rd spot.

Types of Vape Pens

Basically, there are three main types of vape pens depending on the material you want to vape. It’s good to have some basic knowledge of each type, as it can go a long way in choosing the best pen vaporizer.

  1. Vape Pens for E-liquids (Oil Concentrates)

Oil concentrate for vaping (E-liquids) iconE-liquid vape pens or e-cigarettes are the most common and basic type of vape pens. These are the favorite of ex-smokers, as they give a similar sensation like smoking a tobacco cigarette. They consist of a drip tip/mouthpiece, ceramic filter, atomizer, and battery. You have to fill an e-liquid aka e-juice into the atomizer, which is turned into vapor and you can inhale it through the mouthpiece.

The vaping experience depends on the vapor pen as well as the e-liquid. E-liquids come in a wide variety of flavors, from bacon-like flavors to flavorless and everything in between. They usually consist of PG (propylene glycol) VG (vegetable glycerin), artificial flavors and nicotine. Some e-liquids even allow you to choose different levels of nicotine strength i.e. 0% up to 15% or even more. The freedom to choose nicotine level, a variety of flavors and ease of use are the factors that make e-liquid vape pens very popular.

  1. Vape Pens for Dry Herbs

Dry herbs iconFlowers and dry herbs have been used for relaxation as well as medicinal purposes for thousands of years. The popularity of smoking dry herbs is still on the rise, and that’s where dry herb vape pens come in really handy. Flowers and herbs are crushed put into the chamber of a vape pen, that turns the herbs into vapor by producing heat or extremely hot air.

The biggest benefit of vape pens is that there is no combustion, which makes smoking marijuana safer. In fact, a study published in Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics Journal in 2007 showed that vaping marijuana is safer than smoking it, and is also more effective for delivering THC. However, the same study also suggested that marijuana is more potent when vaped, so be mindful. The best thing about dry herb vape pens is that they are very concealable and can fit into your pocket as well as hand, and allow you to vape on dry herbs for therapy, medical marijuana prescribed by a doctor, and even dry leaf tobacco. You can also find multipurpose vape pens that, in addition to dry herbs, also allow you to vape e-juices and waxy concentrates. These vape pens, however, are more expensive, so don’t buy a pen with features that you’ll never use.

  1. Vape pens for Waxes

Wax concentrates for vaping (icon).Waxy concentrates are usually extracted from particular substances and are very potent, so all you need is a small amount. However, loading the waxes can be a little messy if you don’t have much experience. Also, you need a special vape pen that is capable of vaping waxy concentrates such as hash oil – which isn’t legal in most states. Wax vape pens have a special chamber, where you need to dab the material. This is why they are sometimes also called dab pens. You can find a multifunction wax pen that also allows you to vape e-liquids and even dry herbs, or just a standalone wax pen that’s more affordable, but can only be used for waxy concentrates.

The rule of thumb is that if you know what type of materials you’ll vape, then get the best vape pen for only those materials, as it will not only offer the best experience but might also save you a few bucks. However, if you vape different types of materials, or you’re unsure about what types of materials you want to vape on, then multipurpose vaporizer pen is the way to go.

What to Look For in a Good Vape Pen?

Just like with any other product, you need to consider and compare a few of the top items depending on quality, durability, ease of use and value for money. But vape pens are a unique product and you should keep some guidelines in mind when buying one:

  • Legitimacy

Unfortunately, vape pens are very easy to clone, and for new vapers, it’s extremely hard to distinguish a copy from a genuine pen. A clone might cost as much as a real product but will perform very poorly, and can even be dangerous. A little common sense, however, can save you the hassle. The one and only thing you can do to make sure you’re getting a legit vape pen is to buy from reputable retailers and avoid fishy retailers who offer cheap vape pens.

  • Compatibility

We discussed the three different types of vape pens in the previous section. It goes without saying that when shopping for a vape pen, you need to buy one that supports the type of material you prefer. If you want to get a multipurpose vaporizer pen, make sure it best performs with the material that you vape most often. Doing a little research and reading vapor pen reviews will give you a good idea of the pen’s compatibility.

  • Performance

If you get a genuine vape pen, rest assured that you will get decent performance, but there are some vaporizer pens that are very cheap, and you get what you pay for.  Cheaper vape pens take too long to heat up, are very fragile and can even burn the material. When using cheap vapor pen, you get a burnt taste, and this is the biggest reason most ex-smokers go back to tobacco cigarettes. That’s why we recommend investing in a decent vaporizer, made by a reputable manufacturer, that will give you great flavor and nice throat hits. Some of the vaporizer pens can allow you to vape multiple materials, which we have already discussed.

Depending on how they function, there are two major types of vape pens: conduction style and convection style. The performance of the pen greatly depends on its type. In conduction vape pens, the material comes in direct contact with the heating chamber. This can sometimes result in a burnt taste, when the heating element gets too hot or when there is very little material in the chamber. On the flip, the convection vape pens blow extremely hot air through the material that turns it into vapor. A mesh screen, usually made of glass or metal is used to contain the vaping material. The convection style vape pens usually offer better flavor and taste, however, they can be more expensive and take longer to heat up.

  • Appearance

Vape pens come in all shapes, designs, and colors, from simple pens to extremely stylish ones like the G Pen. While appearance doesn’t have anything to do with the performance of the pen, and some obnoxious looking pens might outperform their much better-looking counterparts, however, some people want to own only elegant gadgets, even vape pens. You will find some outsized pens, but usually, the smaller ones look better, are more elegant and are also concealable. Appearance usually is a matter of personal preference, and it’s up to you what you want but at least don’t buy a pen that you will feel embarrassed to vape in front of your friends. Likewise, buying a pen that looks extremely stylish but performs poorly is nothing but a waste of your hard-earned money.

  • Battery Life

Battery life is a major factor in choosing any electronic device these days. Since you’ll use the vape pen as a portable device, you don’t want the battery to die when you really need a vape. Vape pens that support bigger batteries are also bigger in size, so there’s a tradeoff. Also, vape pens that can be charged via USB are obviously a better choice than the ones that require a unique adapter. Some vape pens also come with a car charger in addition to the wall adapter, which is an added convenience.

  • Chamber Size

The size of the heating chamber determines how long you can vape before having to refill. So, the bigger, the better is true for vape pens, but a bigger chamber usually increases the overall size of the pen. It’s up to you if you want a more concealable, elegant pen or one that needs to be refilled less often.

  • Warranty

The topnotch manufacturers back their products with extremely long warranties. In fact, a long warranty is the biggest indicator of high quality.
