When you start vaping and get used to e-cigarettes, at some point your preferences may appear more specific. Maybe you can’t taste the flavor the way you want it or the vapor is not thick enough. Some prefer longer draws, decent throat hit or, on the contrary, lack of it. If thoughts like that cross your mind sometimes, that’s the point when you’re ready for a more advanced vaping device. The Innokin EZ Watt is a high-quality vape mod kit that brings you more profound vaping experience, but not overwhelming with the difficulty of settings.

The open question of how to mix and match coil resistance, voltage and wattage modes might scare off an aspiring vaper. But don’t you worry, brands like Innokin produce advanced vape mods that are intuitively understandable, while adjustable enough for delivering a variety of vaping sensations. And the EZ Watt starter kit is a perfect example of those. In this review, we will walk you through the main features of the Innokin EZ Watt and the ways to use it.

The EZ Kit Includes

In the EZ Watt Kit, Innokin delivers not just a mod with a battery unit, but the whole package of parts for you to put it all together and start vaping right away.

Here’s what you’ll find in the box of the Innokin EZ Watt Kit:

The Looks Department

All the pieces of the Innokin EZ Watt are neatly packed in a relatively small box. Inside of it, you will find some papers: the identity card with two QR codes, the whole mini-book of safety requirements and warnings, also two simple one-card user guides with lots of easy visual instructions.

Describing the overall look and feel of this Innokin mod, let’s go from the bottom. On the very bottom of the device, if flip it upside down, you’ll see a quick wattage settings guide made for picking it for the Prism T20-S coil (goes with the kit), as well as for higher capacity coils (for example, the Innokin SlipStream Tank, not in the kit). Note that two coils that you get with your Innokin Prism T20-S don’t suite the highest wattage mode of 30-35 Watt. It’s designed for direct-to-lung vaping, and you can screw any of your powerful DL tanks in the 510-connector of the EZ Watt mod.

On the outer side of the device, there’s a power button for variable wattage adjusting. It is supported by three LED lights indicators shaped like arrows. Higher you’ll see the firing button with a chrome surface made in a traditional on/off round button style. Both buttons bulge out a bit, so you can easily press them intuitively without looking at it. I found the power button to sit a little tighter than the firing one, but maybe that’s been done on purpose to make you feel the difference in sensation between those two.

On top of the mod, traditionally, there goes a tank for e-liquids with a drip tip on it. In this kit, you get two different drip tips. One of them has a 510 base, which you can connect with any external mouthpiece of yours. And the other one with a tapered design has a solid construction with a 510 base thread. Basically, I didn’t see much difference between the two and the draws that they deliver, because both of the drip dips have a very slight inequality in diameter.

Two little air holes on both sides of the tank are non-adjustable. Their size apparently was made for a restricted mouth-to lung hit. Even so, as long as they are situated at the bottom of the atomizer, they must deliver an even heating and tasty flavor. The whole unit looks sturdy and well-built. The surface feels nice and soft. Also, it looks pretty durable. There’s no rattling or flimsy parts.

The Big and The Easy

To start vaping the Innokin EZ Watt, you need to screw the preferred coil, as well as the mouthpiece, inside of the tank, then put it tight on the charged battery unit. If you notice any leakage problems, it probably means that the coil doesn’t sit tight enough. The T20-S tank has a top-fill system, so it’s very convenient to refill. A couple of spare O-Rings in the kit I found handy for reducing the probability of e-juice leaking.

The coil heads are quite big-looking. I’m pretty sure the space inside is enough for a decent vapor production. Meanwhile, the wicking holes seemed to be way too tiny for soaking an amount of e-juice needed for a good taste and draw. You’ve got to choose between a 1.5 Ohm coil best with 13-14 (lowest) wattage mode, and 0.8 Ohm coil with the recommended 16-18 wattage setting.

The LED light indicator shows you what wattage level are you currently on:

A lower or higher wattage level within the preferred range can be chosen by clicking on the power button. A dull light means lower wattage, and a bright light means the higher one. No switch between power modes you need to hold the fire button while pressing the power button. Thankfully for beginners, this simple wattage variety is all you need to do to experiment with your ‘almost-pro’ vaping sessions. In addition to that, you might consider playing around with different 510-connecting tanks as well as trying out various e-juices (because every other kind of the latter brings the sweet spot at some certain boiling point, so the flavor depends much on the heating time and power).

Other features like Voltage and Temperature are being adjusted automatically by the Innokin EZ Watt mode. Thus, you don’t have to worry about the resemblance of those settings. No e-juice overheating, no flavor or vapor tradeoff.

Stormy Vapor Clouds Made EZ

To switch the device on/off there’s a traditional Innokin’s three-click system, instead of five-click in other vapes. To me, obviously, three times are less work to do than pressing it five times, that’s why I like how the Innokin EZ Watt switches on and off better than some other vape mod on the market.

After loading the tank with e-juice for the first time, I let it sit nearly for five minutes. As I mentioned above, the wicking holes were so tiny that you might want to let it soak up a little bit longer than usual. The manufacturer claims that the T20-S tank that you receive in the package is designed especially for enjoying the flavor, so I couldn’t find the way to try it out.

I started off with a 1.5 Ohm coil and its recommended 15W. The draw was quite tight, much like when smoking a cigarette. The flavor was, indeed, intense. Dense vapor trail was beautiful, even though I couldn’t make a deep direct-lung hit with that kind of coil. Just as they say – coils that come in the Innokin EZ Watt are designed more for a mouth-to-lung hit.

When switching to the coil head with a lower resistance level (0.8 ohms), I set higher wattage settings. On an 18 Ohm, the vapor was a bit warmer, and the flavor seemed to unfold good as well. I also tried to switch it to the unrecommended 30W level, and it vaped pretty fine. You know, some experienced vapers agree on the point that Kanthal coils (also used in this kit) are not the best for flavor. I can agree, because they heat up in a blink of an eye, and that’s not the best option for most e-juices. Sometimes, what you really need is a slow and steady cook with enough temperature, of course.

Pros&Cons

Do We Recommend It?

All in all, the Innokin EZ Watt is a great device for aspiring vapers, who want to break into the world of advanced vaping sensations. This device fits good in the hand, pretty portable and well-built. The battery can work without charging up to the whole day, and it charges in about an hour. Charging it with a wall adapter might be even quicker. Even though, I would better prefer to have an adjustable airflow in the T20-S tank, as well as a DL tank included in the box. So, generally, I’m happy with the Innokin EZ Watt, and I would highly recommend it both to beginners and old-time vapers.
