First Contact with the Vaporizer

Unboxing

We had a good first impression. Let’s start with the box design; it’s kind of funky and the box itself is practical and solid, but nothing extravagant overall.

After opening the box, we liked that inside all the pieces are well-kept together by a piece of foam, all smooth and harmoniously. The pen, the wall charger and small paper box with other elements such as the USB cable, cleaning brush, etc. (we listed them in detail below). We also liked the free sticker. Small attention to details is always worth mentioning.

A standard design but with a surprise

flytlab lift vaporizers review

The Flytlab Lift is available in black and white. It has a cylindric shape, quite standard and nothing spectacular to be honest, but we find it pleasant to touch and to hold.

We had a pleasant surprise to find out that the pen has a retractable mouthpiece (glass lip part). It is a detail, but we think that it is a great addition! It comes incredibly convenient when putting the device in a jeans pocket, and we have tried, so we know what we are talking about.

Size and Weight

At just over 4 inches tall and around 65g, the Flytlab Lift feels light, but it is not the lightest vaporizer we have seen. We find it a bit thick, but it gets entirely hidden in the palm when you close your hand. Moreover, it fits jeans pockets. So it does the job and is compact enough, but without doubts, there are more discreet devices out there.

Using the Vaporizer: a piece of cake

The Lift performs well

The Flytlab Lift chamber can hold up to 0.6g of herbs. It is made of ceramic with a mesh screen, which keeps the herbs far from its heating element. This detail has an immense importance because it produces great tasting vapor.

We like that the Lift has only one button that allows turning the device on and off with an easy three clicks, and adjustment of the temperature settings by pressing and holding. You can even check the battery life by pressing and holding when the pen is off. Another pleasant feature.

The 60 seconds heat up time is a tiny bit slower than other similar vaporizers, but it ranges in the market average. So we do not think that this is a big deal at all.

The Flytlab Lift also automatically cools down and shuts off when it is left unattended for less than a minute. It preserves your herbs and the battery, which is excellent.

Like we mentioned above, we think that the retractable mouthpiece is worth a try, it is convenient for several reasons (vaping and carrying comfort, cleanliness, convenience, size).

Temperatures settings

The Lift has three temperature settings ranging from 375 to 425°F. The LED lights on the vaporizer will indicate the temperature you select:

  • Blue: low (approx. 375°F)
  • Yellow: medium (approx. 405°F)
  • Green: high (approx. 425°F)

We found out that it can hold a steady temperature through the sessions thanks to the robust regulation of the system. Cool, isn’t it?

What about the vapor quality?

Well, you need to know that the lowest and mid temperatures will give you a tasty vapor but with a subtle visibility. The highest heat setting will increase the strength and provide a thicker cloud vapor and stronger taste.

We have identified two main pain points. First of all, it might get scorching when used for a long time at a high temperature. Keep that in mind. The other point is that you will need to grind your herbs thinner and finer, to get the most out of the vaporizer. For us, this is not an issue because we like small and fine herbs. So it depends on how you like to grind your herbs.

The Competition: the Pro Series 7

The Flytlab Lift has a serious contender when it comes to the V2 Pro Series 7, which is also equipped with great features, like its temperature settings. However, the V2 is a too big for the Lift. Its larger storage capacity and extended battery life are great, but its variable voltage technology and its magnetic cartridge knock it out of the park.

Flytlab Lift: on a practical note

The Battery: not too bad at all

Fully charging the Lift took us about two hours. That is not the quickest, but not bad. The Lift LED light will flash red while charging and will turn green once fully loaded. The LED light indicators indicate how much battery power you have left.

The full battery offered us about 12 to 20 draws. It depends of course on the temperature setting you will be using (the higher, the quicker the battery will drain).

Easy cleaning but demanding device!

Cleaning the Flytlab Lift is very easy. First of all, switch the device off and wait until the chamber has cooled. Then use the cleaning brush provided in the kit and get rid of the remaining material you see inside the heating chamber. We also used a wipe or a swab to clean it off, and it works well. Don’t forget to clean the screens too.

We strongly advise cleaning the Lift regularly, to maintain high performance. Ideally, clean the screens and the heating chamber immediately after each session! Can be a pain, but it is for the greater good (and for your investment).

A small hiccup…

We feel that the draw resistance might be problematic for some users. It is not that strong, which is a good and a bad thing at the same time, it depends on where you stand. It is ideal for beginners, but not great for the most experienced users looking for thick vapor and strong taste. However, it can also satisfy many people in between.

Smart feature, the Flytlab Lift surprises

In case the Flytlab Lift retractable mouthpiece gets accidentally stuck inside the chamber, guess what? The unit will not heat up. How great is that? We already said that we love the retractable mouthpiece concept, and it surprises us again!

The Positives

  • Unique button: simple to use
  • 0.6g chamber capacity
  • Ceramic chamber to ensure a vapor purity
  • Three temperature settings
  • 60 seconds heat-up time
  • Retractable mouthpiece
  • Herbs kept away from the heat source
  • Small, sleek

The Negatives

  • Can get very hot and harsh on highest temperature
  • Vapor clouds not very big on lower temperatures mainly
  • Draw resistance not that strong
  • Requires very thin herbs grind for the best experience
  • Requires cleaning after almost each use

Final Thoughts

The Flytlab company is known for designing strong vaporizers at a reasonable price, and the Lift falls into that category. It is a reliable device, with some great features to give you pleasant vaping sessions.

We think that the Flytlab Lift is a good compromise because it has many excellent features including advanced ones to offer you exceptional flavors. If you are looking for a dry herbs device that is more advanced from a standard vape pen, then the Lift is for you. The number one segment is undoubtedly the beginners and the users who are not looking for super strong vapor tastes.

Overall, we did not find too problematic elements, to tell you to stay away from it. It surely has some elements which could be improved, but it will still perform and deliver quality and satisfaction. Moreover, there is a ten-year (!) manufacturer warranty. It does not cover battery life, but it is still really nice to have, right?

My way of understanding the significance of vaping came not only through the disruption of smoking but its effects on society as a whole. Now I bring people to vaping and bring vaping to people. I love using new gear, writing in-depth reviews and generally nerding out about vaping to like-minded people.
