The Pulsar APX is a portable, hand-held dry herb vaporizer that travels well since it stands at just over four inches. It has a sturdy, hard-body casing ensuring its durability. The parts that make up the Pulsar APX disassemble smoothly enough to allow for easing loading into the convection ceramic chamber, which is a preferred dry herb setup, at least, compared to cartridge-based systems.
Table of Contents
Inside the APX users will find a 1600 mAh, Li-ion battery that will power through about two hours straight on a full charge. The mod also features five different temperature settings that are written out along the center of the battery and range from 356 degrees to 428 degrees Fahrenheit.
The top firing button clicks on five times and fires to vape the dry herbs. The kit does come with an additional wax chamber that can be inserted into the chamber to vape favorite concentrates.
First Impressions
In the box users will find:
- The Pulsar APX vaporizer
- One removable, stainless steel wax chamber
- Five screens
- One pair of tweezers
- One picking tool
- One wire brush
- Micro USB charging cable
Pulsar APX looks like an ideal portable dry herb device, and the wax canister makes it possible to vape concentrates as well. It feels snug in the hand, and it is easy to grip and hold.
The mouthpiece is wide-bore and allows for great airflow and direct throat hits. The APX has only one firing button, and it also lets the user cycle through all the temperature settings, which are all inscribed into the spine of the mod. Hold the trigger for three seconds to select each successive temperature level.
The LED indicator light turns green from red, to let the user know that the device is ready to be used. The device takes about only a minute to get to an ideal temperature. The mouthpiece comes off relatively easily to reveal the chamber inside.
The chamber is all ceramic, so there is no added plastic, dyes or other things that vapers don’t want to be inhaling lining the chamber walls. So, the Pulsar APX is a straightforward, uncomplicated device that loads easily, and gets ready to go in under a minute.
Using the Pulsar APX
The Pulsar APX is simple to load. The plastic mouthpiece comes off with a quick tug and underneath one will find the chamber. It has a wide mouth, so loading it does not lead to too much spillage.
It is always best to get the material as fine as possible, but luckily, the Pulsar has a screen at the bottom of the chamber that stops any of the finely ground herb getting down into the heating element. Replace the mouthpiece on top and turn it on.
After the loading the chamber, click the firing button fives time to activate the mod. The middle levels are your most optimal hunting ground. And the same is true for the Pulsar. Somewhere between the first and third levels makes for the best balance between cloud and flavor.
Let the device heat up for around a minute and enjoy delicious vapor.
Difference Between Pulsar APX and APX V2
Pulsar APX V2 is an upgraded version of Pulsar APX. It is a great choice for newcomers to dry herb vaping looking for an easy and effective way to start vaping. Experienced vapers will enjoy the no-frills and low tech approach when looking for a simple vape. The Pulsar APX V2 features almost everything people love about the Pulsar APX into a much compact package with an improved display and a better finish.
Although the new unit does not include the traditional wax can people love to use with concentrates, the inclusion of smart haptic feedback as well as the re-designed and better mouthpiece easily make up for it. This is why the Pulsar APX V2 is an unbeatable product for people who are looking for a top quality portable vaporizer, especially for dry herb. The removal of screens helps eliminate frustrating maintenance.
How to Use the Pulsar Apx V2
There are very few parts and settings to configure, so it takes no time to get started. The first thing is to grind the herb, making sure it is ground finely and uniformly for best results. Once ground it is ready to pack. Remove the mouthpiece and place the herb to the fill line. Do not pack it too tightly, or it will not burn evenly.
Replace the mouthpiece, click the fire button five times, then hold the button for three seconds to cycle through the menu to choose the preferred temperature. Then hold the fire button and inhale. Done!

Crafty Vaporizer
Crafty Vaporizer is a nice little on the go mod for dry herbs, but battery life and not much temperature control make it not ideal. The Crafty is a more expensive device than APX. The outer case of the product is made of a rigid plastic material, and most of the product is vented, which means it resembles a heat sink.
Firefly 2 Vaporizer
Firefly 2 Vaporizer is much more expensive dry herb vaporizer than Pulsar APX. It is a fast device and is available in 8 different colors, such as macadamia, blue, black and white etc. Though it is not at all intuitive to use for a new vaper.
Is the Pulsar APX V2 a Good Vaporizer?
Pulsar APX is a tough little device that is easy to use and has a powerful Li-ion battery to keep it going. The design on it is spectacular. It is the right amount of catchiness without being too attention-grabbing. The temperature control works well enough to allow for a specific taste to emerge along with great-looking clouds.
The thing is super easy to load and cleaning it is easy enough by just removing the screens, cleaning out the chamber and replacing the screen again.

January 30, 2020 at 7:19 pmJust got my APX V2! I was initially disappointed at the seemingly thin output, until I realized that it’s about the quality of the vapor, not quantity. I set it to lowest temp, then take a looong, slow drag; flavors are subtle but distinct with no harshness nor irritation. Am quite happy with my first dry herb vaporizer 🙂
