The KandyPens Crystal is a new vaporizer pen that uses herbal waxes, shatter, and isolates; it can be used with CBD or THC products.

The pen is made from durable materials, yet it is light and portable, making it perfect for on the go vaping. In addition to its portability, this vape has a powerful battery that allows it to run most of the day.

It also is easy to clean and load thanks to its well-designed chamber and coil. The unique placement of the coil relative to the quartz atomizer results in excellent quality vapor.

KandyPens Crystal Hand-Held Vape Review

KandyPens was established in 2014, and since its founding, they have made a name for themselves in the wax pens niche. They have produced 12 products, most of which are geared towards people who prefer waxes. Their latest incarnation is the KandyPens Crystal – a reliable and dependable wax vaporizer.

The Crystal is a handheld vaporizer that is capable of vaporizing a variety of waxes, including shatter and isolates, and it is compatible with THC and CBD products.

Inside of the product is a very well crafted coil and chamber system that produces excellent quality vapor. The chamber is made from quartz, and the coil is located underneath it. This ingenious design of this vaporizer improves the vaping experience immensely.

Another thing to like about this vape is the battery and settings. The battery in the vaporizer is ultra-powerful and can last up to a day, depending on how often it is used.

LED lights on the mod let the user know when the vape needs to be recharged. Plus, the settings allow the user to switch between timed vaping sessions and manual control over the session mode.

When the user has manual control over the sessions, he or she can use it as long as desired. The high amount of control the user has over the vaping sessions is a huge advantage.

Since the vaporizer is built like an ordinary vape pen, this vape is very easy to carry around. The size of the KandyPens Crystal is one pound, three inches tall so that it can fit anywhere. Its solid construction ensures that it can withstand the rigors of travel, making it excellent for people who are always out and about. Additionally, it has a rounded design that makes it easy and comfortable to hold and vape.

Finally, the KandyPens Crystal is 510 compatible, so it will work with whatever atomizer or cartridge the user chooses.

What is in the Box?

VD Kandypens Crystal Vaporizer Box

The full kit contains:

  • 900 mah pen battery
  • Two glass tipped metal mouthpieces
  • Quartz atomizer
  • Keychain dabbing tool
  • Branded pouch
  • USB cable
  • Instruction manual

Once the parts are out of the box, the vape’s components can be assembled in under a minute; however, the glass mouthpiece and quartz atomizer are sold separately. The fact that these items are sold separately is a major downside. The vape is available in black and white.

Internal Build Quality and Design of the Crystal

The construction of this product is solid. It is made from stainless steel and medical-grade electroplating. The glass mouthpiece is also made from metal and glass tipped.

A splash guard is located at the base of the mouthpiece to prevent hot liquid from getting into the mouth. Four LED lights let the user know how the battery is doing. A lifetime warranty covers the batteries.

KandyPens Crystal Battery Review

The battery is another impressive aspect of this product. It is rated for 900 mah, and it can last up to 10 sessions.

VD Kandypens Crystal Vaporizer

KandyPens Crystal charge time is quick, as well. Once plugged in, it takes 1.5 hours to charge. The vape supports pass-through charging for those who do not want to wait that long.

KandyPens Crystal Atomizer and Mouthpiece

This aspect of Crystal’s design is highly unique. The quartz atomizer sits above the coil so that it does not come in contact with the materials being heating in the atomizer. This aspect of the design makes for a cleaner and tastier vaporizer that heats evenly, no matter the voltage level.

VD Kandypens Crystal Mouthpiece

The glass mouthpiece is comfortable and channels the vapor well. It does have one serious flaw, however. Since it is constructed from glass and metal, the mouthpiece conducts heat, making it uncomfortably hot after extended sessions.

They should have put some better insulation between the glass mouthpiece and the battery, but the designers neglected to do that.

How Long to the Coils for the Crystal Last?

Since they do not come into contact with the wax, the coils should last for a reasonably long time. Vaping at lower wattages can extend the life of the coils considerably.

Vaping Instructions for KandyPens Crystal

Ease of use is a significant factor in this device’s favor. There is a single power button on the pen and no adjustment buttons.

VD Kandypens Crystal Vaporizer Parts

  • Press the power button five times to turn it on and press the button three times to cycle through the four voltage settings.
  • Pressing the button twice activates a 10-second session mode, and when the button is held down, it can be vaped like an e-cigarette.

How to Clean the Crystal

Cleaning is also easy. Fire the vape for five seconds to burn away the residual waxes, and then wipe the inside of the bowl with a napkin. Use isopropyl alcohol with the napkin to clean out the bowl. Use a small brush to clean the ventilation holes.

What Heat Does the KandyPens Crystal Use?

The Crystal uses four voltage settings: 2.6, 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0 volts.

Quality of the Vapor

The vapor is of excellent quality since there is no direct contact between the coil and the wax in the chamber. As a result, the waxes in the chamber heat evenly, and the flavor is superior to that of similar pens.

Airflow is smooth and open thanks to the well placed ventilation holes. There is top fed airflow coming from the outside cap and the small slit near the quartz atomizer’s threading.

Competing Products

KandyPens Crystal vs. Prism

The Prism is another wax vaporizer made by KandyPens that is similar to the Crystal. It has an extremely compact design that makes it portable and easy to handle. There are some significant differences, though.

VD Kandypens Prism

The Prism uses both a coilless ceramic atomizer and a dual quartz rod atomizer with titanium coils. The Crystal has a larger battery than the Prism’s 320 mah.

KandyPens Crystal vs. Puffco Plus Pens

The Crystal is an excellent product, but the Puffco Plus V2 has several features that put it ahead. It has a much better-designed mouthpiece that doubles as a loading tool. The most significant advantage the Puffco Plus is that it charges in half an hour.

Puffco Pro 2 Review

It is also better-looking appearance wise, having a bright futuristic design that is fingerprint-proof.

Positives and Negatives

The Positives

  • Portability
  • Excellent vapor
  • Separate chamber and coil
  • Outstanding battery life
  • 510 compatible

The Negatives

  • Too expensive
  • Single atomizer
  • Glass mouthpiece gets too hot

Final Words about KandyPens Crystal

This is one of the most excellent vape pens of the year. The most significant feature of this new product is its quartz atomizer and coil system.

The vapor coming from these vaporizers is excellent no matter where the voltage is set since there is no contact between the coil and waxes.

Also, thanks to its small size and battery life, the Crystal is more portable than many of KandyPens other products. Plus, KandyPens Crystal replacement parts can be found on their site.

The main drawbacks of these vaporizers are the price and mouthpiece. For a portable vape, this vape is much more expensive than its competitors, which is too much considering that it uses only one atomizer. Finally, the glass mouthpiece is too hot.

But, considering ease of use and the quality of the vapor, the pros of these vaporizers definitely outweigh the cons. If you have a strong opinion about this vape or other vaporizers from this company, let us know what you think by leaving a comment below.

I have the Kandypen Crystal and like it except that besides the too short glass mouthpiece, and only one atomizer there is a flaw in the atomizer. The quartz bowl sits inn top of the coil which is ok but there is a tiny bit if space between the top of the quartz bowl and the rim of the atomizer that holds it in place in the top. If you even slightly overpack, and the concentrate bubbles up it will get in between the outside of quartz bowl and the walls if the hole where it sits in the atomizer. It will not come out when you use a qtip to clean it the bowl. I don’t think the atomizer can be soaked in iso alcohol either. The design doesn’t lend itself to it. And they are really expensive.

You can take both the mouthpiece and the coil off, and clean them thoroughly in a hot (microwaved) isopropyl alcohol dip. Just be warned, there’s still an issue with the paint coming off. If that doesn’t sit well with you, headshops will probably have faster and better options.

      Good luck.
