The Arizer Solo 2 is an updated version of the original Solo vaporizer. It features a new LED user interface and a larger battery capacity. In addition, the Arizer Solo 2 features a unique removable capsule chamber. It gives the vaporizer a clean, all-glass vapor path. Users load material into a borosilicate glass stem and then place the full capsule into the all-ceramic heating element. The unit features a single 18650-battery as its power source, and it has a temperature range of between 50 C – 200C. In addition, the unit features a hybrid heating method that combines convection and conduction heating.

An Up-Close Look at the Arizer Solo 2

The Arizer Solo 2 is not that different from the original version, as it keeps the same exterior but with a few upgrades. For example, the original Solo did not have precision temperature control. Instead, it used a system of five different preset temperatures. So users can select based on their preferences. The user interface also lacked a digital display and used a row of LED lights to indicate the set temperature.

The Arizer Solo 2 has precision temperature control and a bright LED. It let users dial in their preferred temperature using the two-button control panel. The control panel is a circular button. The board consists of a central power button and two outer rings that are the up/down buttons to raise or lower the temperature.

The Solo 2 also features a hybrid heating method. It combines convection and conduction, as the ceramic heating element heats the material chamber. Still, it also intakes air to create vapor. However, the Arizer Solo 2 does continue with the extended mouthpiece/vapor path used by the original. Thus, it continues to be a trademark with the Arizer family of vaporizers.

The control panel also allows for more customization. For example, users can set a session length for their vape. So the Solo 2 shuts down automatically after a certain amount of time. The Arizer Solo 2 vaporizer can also be set with an audio alarm to notify the user when the device has reached temperature. The internal battery is not removable. However, the portable vaporizer does feature pass-through charging.

What's in the Box

Arizer Solo II starter kit image

The Arizer Solo 2 comes fully equipped with all the different pieces to function correctly and optimally. There are even duplicates of several key components like two material chambers of varying lengths, screens, filters for the mouthpiece, and all the necessary carrying and charging equipment.

  • 1x Arizer Solo 2 Vaporizer
  • 2x Aroma Tubes (90mm and 110mm)
  • 1x Carrying Case
  • 1x Rubber Aroma Tube Caps
  • 1x Stirring Tool
  • 1x Micro Heater
  • 4x Filters
  • 1x Aroma Dish

The Look and Feel of the Device

The Arizer Solo 2 copies the same shape and design as its predecessor, the original Arizer Solo. The entire vape has a cylindrical shape that resembles a sippy cup or a portable container for cold and hot beverages. In addition, the design is intended to resemble a drinking vessel, so the aroma tube resembles a straw.

This is the ideal design to maintain the purity of the vapor. It flows up directly from the material chamber through the mouthpiece and to the user. Thus, it does not flow through any of the device’s electronics. And it does not come in contact with any hazardous or harmful substances. The vaporizer, however, is not the most portable or compact for this reason.

Even with the glass aroma tube removed, the central battery section is still significantly heavy. So it would never fit into a pocket but mainly like a bag or backpack. The Arizer device’s front features an easy-to-navigate control panel with only three buttons to control all of the device’s different functions and settings.

However, the new Arizer Solo maintains the same stainless steel material oven inside the vape. It pairs with a ceramic heating element to create pure, unsullied vapor. The exterior is also made from chrome, zinc-alloy material that gives it a durable build, although it is not the most lightweight model.

How Long It Lasts

The dry herb vaporizer comes with a single pre-installed 18650 battery that is not removable. But this does not mean that it is dangerous to charge inside the device. On the contrary, several battery protections include reducing overcharging to safely recharge the vape with the USB cable included in the kit.

Arizer claims that a fully-charged battery can last for up to 3 hours, which holds more or less with average daily use. Users who vape for longer and at higher temperatures may experience less battery life as those variables decrease battery life, but not by a significant amount. The new Arizer Solo 2 also has a broader temperature range than the original, so it does have more battery capacity and power. It also features pass-through charging, so users can vape even while it is charging.

Getting It Started

The Arizer Solo 2 has an effortless setup. The vaporizer has a combination switch consisting of the menu and up button that users must press and hold to activate the device. Afterward, the vaporizer will activate and display a start icon on its LED. The LED will then show vital information like current temperature, battery life, and whether the potable vaporizer is heating or not.

When the temperature is displayed, users can then adjust the temperature. The user just needs to use the up or down buttons to select the desired temperature anywhere between 50C and 220C. Once the temperature is set, the device will automatically heat. Finally, users can choose an audio ping to signal when the device is ready.

The heat-up time for the new herb vaporizer is somewhat shorter than with the original Solo. The vaporizer takes anywhere from 30 to 40 seconds to reach its set temperature, whereas the classic model took a bit longer to heat. The device also has an automatic shut-off after ten minutes without usage to save on charge.

How It Vapes

There is a lot to like about the Arizer Solo 2. It has a straightforward setup, while the combination of precision heating, a stainless steel chamber, a ceramic heating element, and a glass vapor path ensure the vapor quality of this Solo is unmatched by any similar device. In addition, the vaporizer is very well-made, and despite its awkward shape and appearance, it is still a guaranteed good time.

The response time of the LED is very fast. So users can easily switch between temperatures during the same session without losing quality. Users can even time their sessions last for as long as they want (but under ten minutes). So they can get the most out of their material.

With a choice between two different lengths of aroma tubes, users can also opt for different vaping experiences. Just choose the shorter one for more flavorful hits or the longer one for larger clouds. The cleaning process is also minimal, as users need only clean their aroma tubes once to ensure their proper functioning.

To get the vaporizer in good shape, there is no need to disassemble any parts or mouthpieces or use isopropyl alcohol (unless it is to clean the aroma tubes). However, the Solo 2 is only for dry-herb use. It does not support using solid or liquid concentrates in the materials tube. Regardless of that, the Solo 2 is one of the most versatile and convenient dry herb vaporizers around.

Competing Devices

Pax 3

Pax 3 Review

The Pax 3 is a dual-use vaporizer that supports dry herbs and concentrates in its stainless steel heating chamber. The Pax 3 also continues the same outward design and look as previous Pax models. It has a slender, uncluttered exterior with only the four-petaled LED button in its center to activate the device. The center button is also helpful for changing between the device’s four preset temperatures. The Pax 3 is also Bluetooth compatible. The vape can sync with a smartphone for more precise temperature inputs. And it has other vital functions like timing a session length.

DaVinci IQ

Davinci IQ Review

The DaVinci IQ is a hybrid heating device for dry herbs and concentrates. It uses an all-cubic-zirconia heating chamber. The DaVinci IQ has a dedicated vapor path also made from the heating chamber material of ceramic zirconia. The IQ uses a three-button control panel on its side. Users can set their precise temperature or choose from four different heating profiles that they can program in advance. The IQ also has Bluetooth compatibility and comes with a downloadable app. In addition, users can add to their phones to give them even greater control over their device.

Arizer Solo 2 Review: A Precision Device Meant to Last

Have you ever used the original Solo? Do you know any more Arizer vaporizers? Are you interested in any other Arizer device? Let us know in the comments section below.

The Arizer Solo 2 continues the tradition of excellence and craftsmanship of the original device but brings a few new upgrades to the table. The precision temperature control feature is a welcome addition as many original Solo users were adamant that Arizer introduce it in their next portable vaporizer.

Everything else about the original dry herb vaporizer remains unchanged. The unit has the same shape and design as the original. Also, it has a longer-lasting battery and an expanded temperature range. In addition, the setup is very straightforward. First, users need to fill their aroma tube with material and then insert it into the wide-open heating chamber.

The Arizer Solo 2 also features a separate aroma chamber that vapers can affix to the device. Then add a water bubbler (sold separately) to better filter and cool down the vapor. Given that many original Solo users still have and vape with those vaporizers. It only shows that the new Solo 2 is destined to become a long-lasting vaporizer for anyone who gets one.
