A two-in-one device that can decarb herbs and then turn them into oil or cannabutter is a highly desirable item.

Finally, that kitchen appliance is here.

The Levo 2 can decarb herbs and then infuse them into butter or oil for making delectable cannabis inspired dishes. This appliance fully automates the process of decarbing and infusion, taking the hard work out of making edibles.

Levo 2 Review

The concept behind this brand started more than a decade ago. The story goes that Chrissy Bellam (founder and CEO) realized that the process of infusing oils was too complex for most people to do.

She thought she could simplify oil infusion.

So, her answer was to develop the Levo in her spare time. Finally, there was a device that automated the entire process of processing cannabis into oils.

What Is the Levo 2?

The Levo 2 is a kitchen appliance that allows users to infuse various herbs and vegetables into oils. It stands out from similar devices because it is intuitive and fits anywhere in the kitchen.

This appliance is not only simple and compact, but it is less messy than other devices, and the final product does not lose flavor while being processed into oil.

It is quite expensive at $299.99, but it is worth the high price because of how easy it is to use and the high quality oils it makes.

What Herbs and Oil Can You Use?

The Levo 2 can do more than create cannabis infused oil. It is also capable of making oils out of different cooking herbs, such as rosemary, basil, and just about any other herb a person can think of. Common oils this device can make are avocado, grapeseed, and coconut oil.

The list is actually endless. If something can be made into an edible oil, it can go into the Levo 2.

That includes cannabis, of course.

The Differences Between the Levo I vs Levo II

levo 1 vs levo2

The first Levo was an excellent oil infuser, but it is nowhere near as good as this new device. This new machine has a lot more features than its predecessor.

The Levo 2 can infuse without the operator having to change parts because the entire process has been automated. Plus, it has wi-fi compatibility, and more options for customization.

Customization is through the app, which allows the user to monitor and control the entire process with a phone. There is also a touch screen where the temperature and timer can be set for the drying and infusion processes.

The new chamber is lined with ceramic and the oil drains better. Sometimes the older model had trouble draining oil. Also, the dispenser tube screws off and there is no friction fit anywhere.

Finally, the device comes with a power pod, reservoir, and a magnetic silicone stirrer.

It is also worth mentioning that Levo is not making the original model, so buyers have no choice but to get the new version. But do not worry because the new version works like a dream and is much easier to use.

Levo 2 Design and Build Quality

The Levo 2 is well-built so do not expect it to break easily. Also, all of the parts can be washed by hand or in the dishwasher without breaking.

The parts are very easy to put in their correct places, and as long as they are put in their proper places, the machine will work perfectly.

Levo 2 Oil Infuser Modes

Users can choose between three modes: dry, activate, and infuse.

  • Dry means to heat the herbs until they are at the ideal temperature to be infused into an oil.
  • Activate simply activates your flower to prepare it for infusion.
  • Finally, infuse takes the dry herb and infuses it into a fat soluble oil or liquid.

Levo 2 Performance

The performance rating is outstanding because of how easy it is to make oils and cannabutter because of the interface and design. The oils come out with the original flavor, making them great for cooking and flavoring different dishes. What is noticeable in the flavor is the cannabis, and the cannabinoids have a tremendous effect.

The app is great because it has a large list of recipes that show the user everything to do to get the final and desirable result, whether that result be an edible oil or even homemade CBD skin care products.

The only performance problem is that the reservoir is not large enough to produce huge amounts of oil. It would be nice if the manufacturers could make a device with an option for a larger reservoir.

How to Use and Clean the Levo 2

how to use levo 2

The first thing to do is pair the device with whatever wi-fi is available so that it works with the app.

The app will show which ingredients go well together and how long and at what temperature they need to be heated. Afterward, use the step-by-step guide provided by the app from beginning to end.

Generally, fill the power pod with the chosen herb and put it inside the reservoir and choose the activation cycle. The default setting is 249 F for 30 minutes, plus 15 minutes to reach the desired temperature. This setting activates the cannabinoids in the cannabis so that they produce the desired effect when consumed.

After the activation cycle is completed, pour two to two and a half cups of melted unsalted butter or vegetable oil into the reservoir, and then set the infusion at 175 F for two to two and a half hours.

When the infusion process is complete, press the drop icon button and pour the oil into a container.

To clean the device, take out all the removable parts. They can be hand washed or put in the dishwasher without them breaking. As for the parts that cannot be removed, wipe them down with moist and hot cloth until the grime has been removed. Hard to reach places can be cleaned with a q-tip or pipe cleaning wire.

How to Decarb Cannabis With the Levo 2

  1. Pack ¼ ounces of weed into the herb chamber and then begin the activation cycle. It heats the herbs at 240 F for 45 minutes.
  2. It takes 15 minutes for the chamber to reach the desired temperature, and 30 more minutes for it to finish heating.
  3. At the end, the herbs are done and the cannabinoids in them have been fully activated.

Competing Products

Levo 2 vs Magical Butter Machine

magical butter machine review

The Magical Butter machine is a more affordable alternative to the Levo 2, achieving the same result without the high price, thus making it a budget friendly option.

Some users may not like that it has no app or precise controls. But even without these controls, the Magical Butter Machine can still produce an excellent cannabis-infused THC or CBD oil or cannabutter. It just takes time and practice, but the user should be able to master it after one or two tries.

But even without the app, it has all the other benefits, like being easy to clean and compact.

Levo 2 vs Ardent Nova

ardent nova review

The Ardent Nova is another cheaper alternative. It does not have any apps or wi-fil connectivity. Instead, the weed is put inside a container and heated.

However, it does not do oil or butter infusion, but only decarbonates. But it decarbonates the herbs precisely at the right temperature so that they are ready to be infused into oil or cannabutter.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is a Levo Infuser Worth It?

It is a lot to ask someone to pay $299 for an oil infuser, but keep in mind that the Levo 2 is a decarboxylation in addition to being an oil infuser. Consider that the Ardent Nova costs around $250 and only decarbs. But the Levo does both for a price much much higher than the Ardent Nova’s.

That is a good deal worth pursuing.

  • How Much Does a Levo 2 Cost?

The Levo 2 costs $299, but as stated above, this price is well worth it.

  • How Many Colors Does the Levo 2 Come In?

It comes in seven colors: black, pink, green, blue, dark green, red, and honey cream.

  • How Long Does the Levo 2 Take to Infuse?

The entire process takes three hours and 15 minutes. Decarbing takes 45 minutes; 15 to reach the right temperature and 30 minutes to decarb. Afterward, two hours and thirty minutes to infuse the herbs into the butter or oil.

  • Can the Levo 2 Make Tincture?

The device cannot make tinctures because it is not designed to be used with alcohol.

  • Can the Levo Make Vape Oil?

The company does not recommend using its appliance to make vaping oils. It states that only edible oils and butters can be made from this machine.

Pros&Cons

The Positives

  • Cost Effective
  • Decarbs and infuses herbs
  • Can make oil from anything
  • Dishwasher safe parts

The Negatives

  • Reservoir could be a bit larger
  • Some might be intimidated by the price

Final Thoughts

There are so many nice things to say about this device that this summary could be endless. But it boils down to the fact that these devices are easy to use and make great tasting oils and cannabutter. And they can process any herb or vegetable into an oil, so even people not into weed can get a lot of use from this device.

There are always a few problems, though.

A little more space for the reservoir would have been nice because the 16 ounces allotted to it is only good at making oil for a few people. It would be nice if they would make another version that produced larger volumes.

Some people may not like that it cannot make tinctures, but that is not a big deal because there are other ways to make them.

As for the price, it is what it is. But the price is not as high as someone might think since getting a separate infuser and decarber would cost 25 to 50 percent more.

Those cons are far outshined by the advantages, so do not be afraid to buy this appliance. It works great, it is cost effective, and produces outstandingly flavored oils and butters.
