Vape pipes were a logical next step from e-cigs and dry herb vaporizers in 2020. E-cigs and vaporizers changed the way people consumed nicotine and marijuana, and vape pipes are no different.
Vape pipe mods took a simple, old-fashioned tool and gave it a battery with a glass/stainless steel e-liquid tank. Pipe vape mods utilize e-liquid tanks and offer the samesub-ohm vaping experience vapers get from vape pens or box mods.
They do all this while still keeping the look and feel of an old wooden pipe, only now they are wooden vape pipes. Besides their new features and attachments, the pipe mods on this list still keep old-school touches such as all-mahogany finishes, faux-wood bowls, and of course, the tapered mouthpieces.

The ePuffer 629X electronic vape pipe is ePuffer’s newest model of e-pipe. The 629X keeps the best design features...
All the top vape pipes on this list feature refillable tanks, interchangeable coil atomizers, and elegant design flourishes such as gold trim or cubic zirconia. Well, not all. One entry is a different take on the traditional vape pipe but does not use batteries, coils. It also does not vape: it smokes.
The ePuffer 629X electronic vape pipe is ePuffer’s newest model of e-pipe. The 629X keeps the best design features of previous ePuffer models, but these models add modern touches such as a solid wood bowl with a crystal LED. The pipe comes in a starter kit that fits in a deep mahogany box with a great jewelry velvet lining inside.
The starter kit in this vape pipe comes replete with five atomizers all rated at 1.5ohms and made with Japanese organic cotton. There are also two rechargeable, 1100mAh batteries, as well as a charger. There is an e-liquid tank that also acts as the stem of the pipe.
The e-liquid capacity in this vape pipe is 3.5ml, and it uses a 510-connection to attach to the bowl. The coils are threaded as well, so vapers need only screw them into the base to install them. The container is both glass and stainless steel and has great gold trim along its edges.
The ePuffer Hybrid 609 vape pipe is one of the best devices, which combines two types of atomizers in one device. The 609 features a solid wood bowl, which is also where users install a single 18350 battery. The top of the bowl comes off to reveal the battery bay and users screw it back on, where it also becomes the power/firing button.
The top of the battery cap clicks five times to activate it. The 609 vape pipe is not an auto-draw device, as users need to press down on the button to make it fire. The 609 has a separate compartment to utilize with either their pre-filled cartomizers.
Users can screw in a pre-filled cartomizer to the stem section. If they want to vape their favorite e-juice, they can use the tank which, unfortunately, is sold separately. The liquid tank or “liquamizer” is a top-fill and has a 2ml capacity.
The tank is self-contained and features a bottom coil that can last for about 900 puffs. It twists into the stem section with a bayonet fitting. The same goes for the mouthpiece, as it attaches with a quarter-twist.
he Kamry E-Pipe Plus is a three-piece vape pipe – drip tip, battery, and tank – for vaping e-liquids. The device consists of an internal 1100mAh battery section covered in wood grain. The battery section in this vape pipe also features a micro-USB port for charging and a firing button on the top of the bowl.
The bowl (or battery section) uses a 510-connection to install the tank which also has a 510-threading. The tank which is primarily glass/stainless steel can hold up to 3.5ml of e-liquid and uses a removable coil. Users can install the coil by screwing it into the coil base.
This vape pipe has a bottom-fill design, and it uses a removable drip tip that is press-fitted into the tank. The top section has an LED ring around the firing-button, which takes five clicks to activate the battery.
The bowl section does not have a pre-installed 510-connection
The Kamry K1000 e-pipe is the best vape pipe that takes a single 18350battery. Like with most e-pipes, the bowl of the vape pipe also acts at the battery bay. It has a removable top (which is also the firing button) that users have to take out to install the battery.
The K1000 vape pipe consists of three pieces like the Kamry E-Pipe Plus. It has a battery/bowl section, which does not have a 510 connection, connects to the 3.5ml tank. It is glass/stainless steel, while the rest of the pipe features an anodized aluminum shell.
To install it, vapers first need to attach the special 510-connector to the base and then attach it to the battery section. Thanks to this 510-connector, the K1000 vape pipe is compatible with many tanks, including the Nautilus.
Works with dry herbs and concentrates (concentrates pad for sale separately)
Smell-proof and convenient travel case for herb material
Tight draw
Cons:
It is 100% combustion
The Genius Pipe is unique among these other devices for not being electronic at all. The Genius Pipe uses combustion to smoke herbs, even concentrates. It comprises two flat, anodized aluminum pieces that slide together, one on top of the other.
Both plates feature over 2,000 dimples on the bottom and top halves, respectively. These act as a waterless filtration system when smoking dry herbs or concentrates. The dimples create air vortices that filter out resin, wax, and tar. There is a small bowl where users can load their material at the end of the plate.
Users can slide the plate over the bowl, placing the opening (in the form of the Genius logo) over it. They light up the bowl and inhale. When they are done, they slide the solid section over the bowl to extinguish the flame. The three pieces are all anodized aluminum with magnetic connections to hold them in place.
Vape pipes act a lot like other e-cigarettes. Pipe mods may have a different shape than regular e-cigs. But they also utilize batteries, tanks (both pre-filled and refillable), e-juice, removable coils, and detachable mouthpieces.
Pipe-style vapes, though, differ from regular smoking pipes. Smoking pipes burn tobacco and inhaling the smoke causes severe health problems. Even the Genius Pipe, which promises a “cleaner, healthier” smoking experience with its unique filtration system, does not make smoking healthy.
With that said, there might still be people holding onto their traditional smoking pipes for whatever reason. So here are a few advantages and disadvantages to using a vape pipe over a regular tobacco or marijuana pipe.
Advantages of E-Pipes
No Tobacco
E-pipes, like e-cigs, vape e-liquid containing liquid nicotine, or not – there are no-nicotine e-juices. They do not have tobacco or burn any material, so no smoke is produced. The e-liquid used in a vape pipe contains the same ingredients as any other vaping liquid such as propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin, along with different flavorings. While the vapor that comes from e-pipes is not smoke, people should not believe that it is 100% safe.
Less maintenance
Smoking pipes get dirty, no matter if it is a tobacco or cannabis pipe. The Genius Pipe, for example, needs regular cleaning to work properly. The actual vape pipes on this page do not need that kind of upkeep. Except for occasionally cleaning out the e-liquid tank or removing and disposing of a coil, these other devices are virtually maintenance-free.
Cleaner and Less Odor
Smoking produces ash, and with tobacco or weed pipes, the ash is ever-present. The bowl has to be cleaned regularly, which causes a mess, not to mention the fact that the smell produced by a combustion pipe is about as bad as a burning cigarette.
Disadvantages of E-Pipes
Cost
A tobacco or weed pipe may be bad for your health, but they are relatively inexpensive, especially when compared to the price of pipe vape mods. With a tobacco or weed pipe, the cost includes the pipe itself and loose-leaf tobacco or marijuana. Vape pipe mods have more parts – like coils, mouthpieces – that can break or need replacing, things that regular pipes do not have.
Hard-to-use
Smokers need only pack their bowl with tobacco or marijuana, light it, and inhale. E-pipes require a little more work. Vapers need to fill their tanks, charge and recharge the batteries, remove and replace old coils, as well as cleaning whenever needed. Tobacco and weed pipes also need cleaning of course, but that’s it.
Not a quit smoking tool
While vaping is an alternative to smoking, no one should believe that e-pipes or any vaping device is a useful quit-smoking tool. There is no evidence that vaping can help people quit smoking, and no one should think they can help with tobacco cessation. If people are looking to quit smoking, they should first speak with a medical professional or make use of one of the many FDA-approved tobacco cessation tools.
Picking the Best E-Pipe
There’s a lot to consider when deciding on a vape pipe. People need to take into account things like:
Vaping Style = mouth-to-lung vs. direct-lung (sub-ohm)
Performance = low-wattage (flavor production) vs. high-wattage (cloud production)
Exterior Design = modern (e-pipe vape) vs. traditional (Sherlock vape pipe)
Ease-of-use = automatic (no buttons) vs. manual (buttons)
Battery type/life = removable vs. built-in
Cost = affordable vs. luxury
The devices listed above feature all, or some, of these qualities, which makes it challenging to choose the best one. The two ePuffer devices, for example, highlight both the most modern and the most classic features. They have removable batteries, refillable tanks, and pre-filled cartomizers, and they have power buttons.
They also have traditional exterior designs, and all-wood builds that recall old-fashioned, tobacco pipes.
All these conventional elements combined with high-tech touches like sub-ohm coil atomizers and stainless steel fittings also make the ePuffer devices the most expensive. The two wooden vape pipe models from ePuffer are costlier than the Kamry devices or even the Genius Pipe.
The Kamry devices, on the other hand, represent a break with the past with their all-metal exteriors, high-capacity batteries, and double-digit power outputs. These devices are also versatile, as they utilize 510-connectors so vapers can attach different tanks and utilize many types of coil atomizer.
How Does a Pipe Vape Mod Work
E-pipes function much in the same way other vaping devices work. Except for the Genius Pipe, which is a smoking pipe, all the devices here work very much in the same way.
A battery (internal or removable) powers a heating element located in a tank or pre-filled cartridge
that vaporizes e-liquid, producing an inhalable aerosol.
The ePuffer 629X vape pipe is an illustrative example. The kit comes fully-loaded, including a battery charger. Users need to first charge and install their battery into the battery bay, then close the top cap which is also the power/firing button.
Then, users should fill their tank and attach it to the battery section via the 510-connection. The other models here also have 510-connections, which means they can be used with different types of tanks.Once connected, users should activate the vape pipe and start vaping.
The process is the same, more or less, for the Kamry devices, save the Kamry K1000 Plus that has an internal battery and charges via a micro-USB port on the bowl section of the pipe. While not featured on this list, many e-pipe models areall-in-one (AIO), which means they have all their essential components built-into the device.
How Much to Spend on a Vape Pipe
The price range for the vape pipes listed here runs from $20 to $200. There are a lot of devices in between those two ends and vapers should be aware that getting a decent e-pipe should not cost a lot. The more affordable price options are by no means inferior.
The Kamry devices both have durable, well-made builds, and they perform as well as any high-priced model. Of course, the ePuffer models are intended for vapers with the means to splurge on such a select item (the 629X comes packaged in a mahogany wood box).
The 629X and 609 are luxury items, but the other e-pipes here are stripped-down, no-frills items that can still produce excellent vapor. Vapers can decide for themselves which of the two styles they prefer and get what they want for the best price.
The Last Word on E-Pipes
E-pipes appeal to a specific type of smoker or vaper but, at the same time, they have broad appeal. Regular tobacco or marijuana pipes are unique items in and of themselves, as only a few people use them. It is these same people – who enjoy using combustion pipes – that should be the ones most interested in the electronic versions.
So, long-time vapers who want to add a special vape pipe to their collection – one that does not resemble a typical e-cig or mod – can also get a vape pipe mod. They function in the same way as other e-cigs and box mods, with their batteries, refillable tanks, and replaceable coils.
Most important, they are also very good at creating the best quality vapor.

My way of understanding the significance of vaping came not only through the disruption of smoking but its effects on society as a whole. Now I bring people to vaping and bring vaping to people. I love using new gear, writing in-depth reviews and generally nerding out about vaping to like-minded people.
Hi Jess, Thanks for asking. Most e-pipes are made for vaporizing e-liquids and e-juices, so they won’t support other Materials. What you need for vaporizing tobacco and weed we have on #5 The Genius Pipe on the list. It works well with dry herbs and concentrates.
