It can be very frustrating when a mod starts flashing atomizer low error messages when vaping. However, these problems are bound to happen eventually, so do not get too frustrated.

Look on the bright side; these warnings are for preventing accidents with your vape. Still, it is quite aggravating when it does happen, especially if the vaper does not know how to fix the issue preventing him or her from vaping.

Rather than taking it to a vape shop, the user can learn how to fix his or her device or tank. Here are several common problems that cause these messages to appear and advice on how to fix them.

Atomizer Short Warning

Atomizer Short means that the coil is causing the mod to short-circuit, which means an excessive current flowing along an unintended path.

Reasons for Atomizer Low Message

Short in the Coils

A common reason why the atomizer low warning occurs during vaping is that the coil was not properly made, the connection is loose, it is not seated correctly, or it does not have an insulator.

Another reason a user might get this warning is that he or she misjudged the size of the build. This can cause the coil to come in contact with the chamber, which in turn causes the atomizer mentioned above warnings.

How to fix

To fix this issue, make sure the coil is seated correctly. Then, try another coil if this does not work. If doing this resolves the problem, it means a bad coil was in the mod.

When using rebuildables, make sure all of the connections are secure. Screws tend to loosen over time, so make sure they are tight.

Another thing to do is to make sure there is enough space between the top cap and coil. If the coil touches anything other than the posts, it will result in a short.

Damaged Insulator

Most devices use PEEK insulators to keep the positive and negative charges separate. Therefore, a damaged insulator can result in a short out.

If this is the case, inspect the insulator, which is located in the 510 pin. Look for signs of damage. If the insulator is not damaged, the warning is not being caused by a damaged insulator.

Low Resistance

Another thing to do is to check the coil’s resistance if everything else is fine. If the resistance of the coil is lower than what the device can tolerate, the vape will not fire.

Dry burning is one way to get around this problem because it can raise the coil’s resistance.

Another thing to do is add wraps to the coil, which will increase the resistance high enough so that the mod fires. If using a factory coil, either a new coil or vape is needed.

Damaged Vaporizer

Atomizer low messages sometimes occur when vaping because the mod is broken. This occasionally happens, no matter how careful the user is. These issues are caused by leaking juice, overtightening the atomizers, and by dropping it.

The only remedy to these issues is to take good care of the vape. If the juice is leaking onto the mod during vaping, or if it has been dropped one too many times, it might be time to consider getting a replacement.

People who work in extreme environments or who are highly active should get a vape that is IP67 certified. Mods like these are water, dust, and shockproof, and they can handle more than other mods.

Chipset Failure

Chipsets eventually fail, even if the mod is not otherwise damaged. This is often the case if the user has done everything humanly possible to repair the device. Get a warranty when purchasing a mod. When the chipset fails, there is nothing to do except replace the device or chip.

How to Fix Atomizer Short Warnings

Here are a few things to try to resolve this issue:

  • Make sure the batteries are charging them properly by putting them in a separate charger
  • If using an RDA/RTA, check and see if the coil is touching the cap or deck.
  • See if there are any breaks in the coil
  • Ensure that the coil is fully screwed into the tank
  • Use different coils from the pack to see if it is only that one coil
  • Use a different mod

If error messages continue to pop up, use a different atomizer on the mod. If it still reads “atomizer short,” the problem is with the vape, not the atomizer or coil. Contact the manufacturer and ask if they can replace it.

How to Fix No Atomizer Found Warnings

Here is a checklist of things to do:

  • Take the atomizer off of the mod
  • Tighten the coil all the way. It could be that the coil is loose
  • Check the 510 connection, and thoroughly clean the threading of the mod and atomizer with a q-tip
  • Make sure the 510 connection makes contact with the mod

Clean the tank using a q-tip or paper towel, making sure there is no grime around the 510 connection. Dried e-liquid, dirt, and other things can cause this warning to pop up.

Another thing to do is to make sure the center pin is close enough to connect with the tank. Finally, put everything back together once the tank and 510 connection are clean.

How to Avoid Atomizer Low Issues

Which is the Best Atomizer with No Issues?

Every vape has the potential to malfunction. Man has yet to devise the perfect gadget. But, some mods are less prone to failures than others. People who are new to vaping and are worried about their mods failing should get a sub-ohm tank.

These are best for novice vapers. They are easy to use and operate since they use pre-built coils that work in various resistances. These mods rarely short-circuit.

What is the Best Vape for Having No Problems at All?

Every vape has the potential to cause a problem. Unfortunately, there is no way to get around this. However, the user can do things to lessen the chances of an error warning popping up.

One, when assembling an RDA or any other vape, follow all specified directions. Secondly, make sure the vape is cleaned regularly.

Finally, handle the mod with care. Do not drop it or leave it lying out in the sun or a hot room or car. Doing these simple things will significantly reduce the chances of getting one of these warnings.

I’ve been vaping for at least six years and this is the FIRST time my vape battery shell said Res low and I looked into it. Now either I’m the lucky guy ON EARTH or the expiration dates on coils, batteries is greatly exaggerated. I’ve used coils easily for SIX MONTHS and when they go bad? Coils didn’t actually fail but the carbon build up got SO bad I literally couldn’t suck much air through the system. Literally it GOT CLOGGED! And batteries going bad? My sets lasted FIVE years but then again a bought a set of three for the system One set active, one set on standby and the third set for when the first two were used up and a set the first two to charge on the charger at the same time. Course once they were charged I charged the third set but given those facts? Each set is EASILY lasting me two years, granted the older they got? The faster they discharged and recharged? Yes a short battery life ALSO means a short recharge too. I’ve always bought Vapes with interchangeable batteries on the simple note it goes dead? Change the batteries instead of recharging it’s dead ass with it permanent battery that ONCE it dies? You got a piece of crap now. But usually my Vape battery bank does give warnings when it’s dying unlike my current one. When straight to low res warning despite changing the coils… means e-juice finally leaked in the bank itself and probably shorted it out from the inside. Hints? Top of my NEW batteries are getting flooded with e-juice too on one of the two sets in the bank. Here’s simple science. E-Juice over time? Breaks down both RUBBER and PLASTIC. It’s WHY them plastic tanks within two months… crack and snap (They get brittle) and rubber bands in the room you vape? Literally degrade to the point they snap if you even TRY to stretch them. SERIOUSLY! Ever notice your underwear’s elastic band suddenly is limp and lose? Good odds those elastic bands were made with rubber. This even includes BUNGIE cords. I use a lot of those on my bike and was surprised they out of the blue rotted?!?

I’m just saying… these conservative expectations on coils and batteries? EXACTLY that. They can easily last 4 times longer that what they are telling you, granted once you DO get past the three month period on a coil? Yeah but past the three month period of a battery? Simple on that note. It either works or it doesn’t but I believe it’s life is at least twice as long as what they are say. Why would they lie? You buy something twice as often? Doesn’t that make twice the number of sales? And isn’t THAT exactly what a seller wants to do versus the buyer???

Tried everything to fix my vape saying protection atomizer short, still isn’t working, at 5 in the morning, I really need my vape.
