Silver Surfer Vaporizer Review – Desktop Vaporizer. Good or Not?
Dry Herb and OilsPrice: $269.99
What’s in the Box
The Silver Surfer Vaporizer comes packaged with one vaporizer bag, one standard vapor whip, one glass tipped custom stir tool, two-pieces ⅝” replacement screens, and one instruction manual.
The distinct design of the Silver Surfer is enough to immediately set it apart from the competition. It is set on a flat base, but it comes up at an angle, giving it a unique look that ensures you won’t mistake it for any other product.
It is also designed to have its ceramic heating unit kept away from all other components. That’s one of its big selling points and part of the reason why it has managed to make such a name for itself since its arrival onto the marketplace.
A lot of the device is made from ceramic and silicone. This is really different from most of what is out there. A lot of the internal structure is ceramic while the vaping whip is made from silicone.
You start by turning the power knob all the way up for a couple of minutes. This gives the device time to warm up and reach its preset heat levels. Once it has heated up, you can turn the knob back down to about a third of its full power. This will ensure that you can vape for a while without burning your herbs.
If you are using aromatherapy or oils, you may want to keep it at about 2/3 power. They need to be a bit hotter than herbs to vaporize. For herbs, the 1/3 power works just fine.
Then insert the whip into the base of the unit and you can start inhaling. After each inhale, give the herbs inside a good stirring. This will make certain that they all heat evenly and that nothing becomes burnt.
The Silver Surfer heats up at about average speed. 3-5 minutes is on par with most other decent desktop vaporizers. It has a few little issues with burning your herbs, but once you figure out how to use it properly, that won’t become a problem for you anymore. There is a small learning curve to it, but it is a device that anyone can use well after some practice.
The whips do tend to get dirty after each session. The oils and herbs will build up inside the whips, so you will want to clean it after each use. You can use some rubbing alcohol to thoroughly clean it and make it look new for the next session.
The vapor production is decent, but nothing spectacular. There are better vaporizers for producing thick, dense vapor, but the Silver Surfer is just fine at that.
The glass and ceramic parts are fragile. If you drop this on a hard floor, you may end up with some broken pieces, but that’s what you pay for clear flavor. That is the big draw to this unit- its ceramic interior. This reduces the chance that any toxins will make their way into the unit and into the vapor you breathe in.
Ceramic heating done this way keeps all the electrical components away from heat and ensures that no toxins are introduced into the vapor. It makes for very clean vaping. Now it can make the device heat up a bit more than your average vaporizer, but it is definitely worth it for the clean and clear taste of the vapor. You don’t get any unpleasant tastes when you vape, just pure vapor.
And if you are worried about the parts, just know that they can be replaced rather inexpensively. The warranty that comes with the Silver Surfer is only good on the electronic components. The warranty lasts for three years, so if you take care of it, you can keep it working perfectly for a long time. To ensure that you have a valid warranty, you will need to buy the device from an approved retailer. Buying elsewhere will mean that the manufacturer will not honor your warranty.
The Silver Surfer is not a perfect desktop vaporizer, but it is pretty close. Our biggest problem with it is how fragile it can be. But if you are treating it with care, then it should not be a problem. Just try not to touch it when it has been heating for a few minutes, and don’t leave it anywhere that it can be knocked onto a hard surface. This will prevent accidents and ensure that your device lasts a lot longer.
We really like the price tag. For $270 you get a durable machine that won’t break down on you after a few months and that gives you some perfectly good vapor. And while its name is the Silver Surfer, it does actually come in a few different colors, including a rainbow hue. You can customize the color of the base and the main shaft too to give it just the look you want.
- Ceramic heating units give the best-tasting vapor
- Great for vaping herbs, oils and waxes
- A fantastic price point
- Great temperature range
- High quality craftsmanship
- Gunks up easily
- Can be fragile
When you compare the Silver Surfer to other vapes in its price range, you will see that it is a higher quality product. It doesn’t contain any flimsy parts. While some of its components may break easily, that’s only because they are intentionally designed using fragile parts that provide an exceptional experience.
You really can’t do any better at this price. And the Silver Surfer is something really unique. If you have been disappointed by the vapor quality and taste that other vaporizers provide for you, then you should definitely give the Silver Surfer a try. You really can’t beat its vapor quality at this price point.
We would even recommend it to new users who are looking for a quality vaporizer they can use at home. The cost won’t bankrupt most people, and it still manages to provide a great experience.
