Cons

  • No temperature regulation

The Huni Badger is a portable nectar collector. It uses a single external heating element to heat and vaporize concentrates. The device’s design means that it does not have an internal chamber or atomizer. Instead, it uses an external heating element, similar to a soldering gun, to melt solid concentrates and then lets users inhale the vapor. The Huni Badger uses a single 18650 battery as a power source. It rises in temperature depending on the heating element attached to it and the length of the session.

The Up-Close

huni budger nectar collector design

The Huni Badger is about the size of a single 18650 battery. It is its main power source, so it has a portable, compact build. The portable collector has a single operating button on its front. The user should click five times to activate the Huni Badger. The heating element is hidden within the unit along with the mouthpiece.

There is a small slot on the bottom of the Huni Badger where the ceramic tip is housed and the metallic mouthpiece. So the entire bottom reveals the tip when it is installed. And you can put it back on when the device is not in use to protect the heating element and stand it on a flat surface.

The battery compartment is on the side of the Huni Badger. A removable battery door with two indented lines on the side and a few holes drilled into it for battery ventilation. The door is easy to remove and keeps the battery ventilated. The Huni Badger takes only a single cell, so it is still lightweight when a battery is inside. Unfortunately, there is no USB port or other charging port on the device, so users must recharge the battery in an external charger.

On top of the device, there is a dust cover. It closes over the vapor path when the mouthpiece is not installed to prevent any dust or dirt entering. In addition, users can install a 510 eGo adapter to attach a different 510-threaded mouthpiece or attach a water bubbler to cool and filter the vapor even more.

What's In the Box?

The Huni Badger nectar collector comes complete with several accessories. All encased within a unique, heavy-duty, water-proof carrying case specially designed for the Huni Badger. But remember that a battery and battery charger are not included in the kit. Here’s what to expect inside:

  • 1 x Huni Badger Unit
  • 1 x pre-installed High Temp HuniTip
  • 1 x Low Temp HuniTip
  • 1 x 510 eGo Adapter
  • 1 x 14mm Adapter
  • 3 x Huni Pot Extract Containers (One stored in the magnetic cap)
  • 3 x Pipe Cleaners
  • 2 x Replacement O-rings
  • 1 x Metal Tool

The Look and Feel of the Device

The Huni Badger has a slim, elongated design. It is meant to house the single 18650 cell and the device’s heating element. Users can screw in the heating element using the included adapter and leave it in without having to remove it. Instead, they can simply replace the cap on the bottom of the Huni Badger to protect the heating element.

The heating elements (two of them in the kit) are pure ceramic. So they are delicate, and you should use them with caution. One heating element is for higher temperatures, and the other is for lower temperatures. The higher temp ceramic tip comes pre-installed onto the device.

The entire Huni Badger is made of plastic, which is not the most robust material. But the Badger does not need to be so heavy-duty since it is primarily a vapor path between the heating tip and the mouthpiece. In addition, the tip does most of the work. So the unit does not need any internal components or atomizers like with other devices.

Getting It Started and Using It

The Huni Badger portable nectar collector does not need to be charged. There is not much assembly required other than screwing the ceramic tip into the slot and loading the battery. However, users should be sure to have a fully-charged cell ready when they open up the box to start using it right away. They must also install the mouthpiece into the slot, another step in getting the Huni Badger ready.

Then check if the mouthpiece and heating element are installed and battery load. When everything is ready, users need only press the power button five times to get it started. Then, the LED encircling the power button will begin to flash. The heat-up time for the Huni Badger takes about 10 seconds. Users will start to see steam rising from the element when ready to use.

The heat-up time is longer for the low-temperature heating element and takes 20-30 seconds to get hot. Regardless of which tip you are using, remember NEVER to touch the heating element when it is in use. Wait until it has cooled down, anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute, before attempting to remove the coil to replace it or clean it.

The element gets extremely hot and could cause severe burns. When the heating element is ready, press it to your material in its container and inhale simultaneously. There is not much you can do to regulate the vapor production, but the longer you inhale, the more vapor you will get. A 14mm water pipe adapter is included in the kit to attach your favorite water pipe to further filter and cool down the vapor.

Taking Care of It

The Badger may need some maintenance from time to time, mostly to clean the vapor path of the Huni Badger and the individual parts like the heating elements and the mouthpieces. Luckily, the pieces are all removable, and when they are removed, the vapor path is easy to access and clean. The company recommends soaking one of the pipe cleaners included in the kit in some isopropyl alcohol and passing through the empty vapor path.

Users can also wipe down the attachments’ threads to ensure they connect smoothly and have no problem being assembled. Finally, users can remove any leftover residue on the tip itself by turning it on and letting it heat up to remove any stubborn stains. The device will shut off after 60 seconds, but users can repeat the process several times.

FAQ

  • How long do the Huni Badger tips last?

The ceramic tips are very durable and can last a long time, even months. However, with that said, they are fragile and can break easily or crack unexpectedly. So it is essential to use the bottom cap whenever you’re not using the device and handle the unit with care.

  • How often do you have to replace a Badger's nail?

If you keep the nail in good condition and it does not accidentally break or crack, there is no need to replace it. The pins are durable and can be used repeatedly as long as they are taken care of.

  • How do you charge a Huni Badger?

There is no charging for the Huni Badger. It takes an external and removable battery, but it has no onboard charging capacity (chip, USB port). So the battery needs to be charged in an external wall or plug-in charger.

Conclusion: Huni Badger Review: A Well-Designed Honey Straw That Will Last

Have you ever used a honey straw or terp pen? What do you think of their design? Do you think they are better than regular vape pens and atomizers? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.

The Huni Badger is the latest in the honey straw market that has a unique design but follows the same type of concept. The Badger has a well-designed exterior, and its performance is unparalleled. Unfortunately, it does not have any variable voltage power settings. But the addition of two types of nails gives it some variety.

It has a removable battery which is another plus since users can continuously use the Huni Badger if they always have a spare battery handy. The vapor production is excellent. And it does not disappoint in the flavor department either. There is some regular clean-up involved, but that is the case for any terp pen or honey straw, so it should not be a hassle.
