Storz and Bickel are known for vaporizers like the Volcano, a huge desktop vaporizer that needs to be connected to a nuclear reactor to operate, but it has a few other gems worth looking into. One of those is the Crafty+.

Storz and Bickel Crafty Plus Review

The Crafty+ has many features and aspects that make it worth buying. It comes with a lot of accessories, and it is one of the most durable vapes on the market. Also, it has a great temperature range and outstanding battery life.

Finally, and most importantly, these vaporizers are easy to use and compare well with their competitors and the older model.

The Difference Between the Crafty Vaporizer vs Crafty+

It is easy to confuse these Storz and Bickel vaporizers because they look so similar, but there are quite a few differences buyers should know about.

Appearance-wise, they both have a finned design, but the difference is that the new Crafty Plus fins angle upward, while the original’s go straight across. It is not clear if this makes a difference in dissipating the heat, but it is worth mentioning anyway so that users know how to tell the difference.

The significant differences are in the heat-up time and battery life. The original takes two minutes to heat up, but a Crafty Plus vaporizer heats up in one. As for battery life, a Crafty+ lasts around two or three more sessions than the original.

Overall, the new Crafty is a better vape to go with because it heats up faster and has a longer-lasting battery. Also, this vaporizer is slightly cheaper.

Crafty Plus Accessories

Internal Building Quality and Design

As said above, what makes this portable vaporizer is its portability. The device is not too tall or heavy, so there is nothing to prevent users from taking it out of the house.

The build quality is outstanding, too, because it is made from PEEK plastic. This plastic is highly durable and can withstand the occasional drop. In addition, the grip has a finned design that helps to dissipate heat while making it easier to grip.

The chamber holds a quarter of a gram, which is exactly the same as the Mighty +. It makes one wonder why anyone would want to buy the Mighty +.

Also, it has a cooling aid, and it is lined with ceramic material that makes it easy to clean.

Temperature and Heating Settings

The Crafty+ vaporizer has a default temperature setting of 356 F, but it has a Boost Mode feature that consists of Boost and Super-Boost.

Pressing the power button twice activates Boost mode and sends the temperature up 15 degrees. Pressing the firing button three times sends the vape into Super-Boost mode and increases the temperature up to 410 F.

The Boost Modes help users max out the temperature and effects of the dry herbs, but there is no way to precisely control the temperature.

Performance and Vapor Quality

This portable vaporizer is a high performer.

The vapor is not too hot but not too cool either. What makes the temperature just right is the maze-like vapor path. While the vapor is running through that path, it cools down so that it does not burn the user’s mouth.

The flavor is very potent and clean, and what helps is the ceramic-lined chamber that prevents anything from influencing the taste.

The draw resistance is not too tight, which is a problem with similar portable vaporizers. However, this vaporizer has a very low draw resistance, making it more comfortable to vape.

The vaporizer runs very well, and there have been few problems in that regard. The only issue is that it takes a minute to heat the herbs. Naturally, some people will not like waiting that long, but those who are patient will be rewarded.

Battery

The Crafty+ vaporizer has a powerful 2,800 mah hour battery that lasts an hour and a half and is suitable for seven bowls.

It also charges very quickly, thanks to the upgraded USB-C port. The upgrade allows the vaporizer to charge in an hour instead of an hour and a half.

Indicator Lights

The battery has several lights to indicate its status:

  • Blue: Fully Charged
  • Slow Flashing Blue: 96 to 61 percent charged
  • Quick Flashing Blue: 60 to 31 percent charged
  • Flashing Blue: 30 percent or less

The only criticism here is the flashing light, which is a little annoying. It would have been better had they made different colored lights, like red, green, etc.

How to Use the Crafty Plus Vaporizer

Take the following steps to operate the portable vaporizer:

  1. Charge the device by plugging the USB-C cable into the USB-C port.
  2. Expose the chamber by twisting off the cooling unit.
  3. Pack 2.5 grams of flower into the chamber or dosing capsule. Pack the chamber and place the steel drip tab on top to microdose.
  4. For concentrates, put the steel pad inside the chamber and the wax on top.
  5. Replace the cooling unit.
  6. Click the firing button twice to activate the vape and wait a minute for the herbs to get heated. The light glows red while the herbs are heating and turns green and vibrates when finished.
  7. Inhale for three to five seconds from the mouthpiece.
  8. Click the firing button twice to enter Boost Mode and two more times to enter Super Boost mode.

Mobile Application

Users can also control the vaporizer using the mobile app. The app allows users to choose a setting between 104 and 410 F. Unfortunately, the app only works with Android vaporizers.

Competing Products

Crafty Plus vs Mighty Vaporizer

These Storz and Bickel vaporizers are very similar, but there are quite a lot of differences too.

The Crafty Plus vaporizer is a much smaller vaporizer, making it easier to take out of the house. Also, it does not have a screen, nor does it have any of the controls of the Mighty +. Finally, it is around $120 cheaper.

However, the Mighty + has a much more powerful battery than the Plus, but that is understandable considering that it is substantially larger.

Mighty Vaporizer

There are many similarities between these vapes, too. For one, they both have USB-C chargers, and they have the same temperature settings and oven capacities.

Considering that these vaporizers are similar, it is hard to see why it is worth buying the Mighty +. It is not very portable and is more for vaping at home. But it does not stand upright, making it a poor choice for tabletop vaping.

Overall, the Crafty+ is a better vaporizer because the device is portable and has most of the same settings for less money.

Crafty Plus vs Firefly 2 Plus

There is a lot to like about the Firefly 2 Plus.

The best thing about it is that it has a much better outer design than the Crafty+. The Crafty has that finned design that some people may not like. But, on the other hand, the Firefly 2 Plus has a smooth body.

firefly 2 plus vaporizers

Another thing about the Firefly 2 Plus people will like is that it heats to 500 F, which is considerably hotter. So it is an excellent option for people who want to get a little more from their herbs.

But that higher temperature comes at the expense of the battery. The Firefly 2 Plus is only good for four or five sessions.

These are both great vaporizers, and either would be a good choice.

Crafty Plus Review Final Thoughts

It does not get much better than the new Crafty+ vaporizer in terms of portable dry herb vaporizers. The device is small, has a decent battery and good temperature range, and vaporizes herbs and concentrates.

The only thing people might not like about the device is that it takes a minute to heat the herbs, and the flashing light is annoying. Other than that, there is nothing to complain about. This vaporizer gets very high marks.
