The Innokin Zenith tank is a mouth-to-lunge flavor-pusher that comes with two different coil types in the kit. The Zenith is a collaboration between YouTube vape reviewers PJ Busardo and Dimitris Agrafiotis, who wanted to create an easy-to-use tank for people thinking of switching to vaping.

The tank features a 4ml e-juice capacity – or 2ml of TPD countries – and uses a bottom airflow control ring that exposes several air intake holes along the base. The tank has an all-stainless steel build with a heat-resistant Pyrex glass section.

An Up-Close Look at the Zenith

The Innokin Zenith builds on the entire Z-Line of tanks from Innokin that include the Zlide, the Zenith Pro and the Zenith D22, a smaller version of the Zenith. The Zenith features a no-nonsense aesthetic design.

The Zenith stands at under 50mm (1.9”) including the removable, 510 Delrin drip tip up top. The diameter of the tank is a comfortable 24.5mm (0.96”) so it is compatible with similarly-sized mods.

The tank features a bottom airflow control ring that exposes or covers five different air intake holes for a precise adjustment.

The unit features a threaded top cap, but users do not have to remove it, as users can simply twist the top cap to expose the large fill port to fill and refill their tanks. The coil installation is also straightforward, as users can install and remove the coils, even when the tank is full. Users can remove the coil base, turn the tank upside down and simply pull out the coil to replace it with another.

There’s no need to screw it in, as the coil needs only to be press-fitted into the atomizer. Once inside, the coil base can be easily attached to complete the coil installation. Another unique feature of the coil and tank is the feed system that allows users to close off or expose the coil juice ports so users can regulate the saturation of the wicks.

This system is also controlled by the top cap. When the fill port is exposed, the juice ports are closed. But when users close the fill port, the system also the juice to flow to the wicks making it easier to prime the coils. Speaking of the coils, many of the coil heads that are found on other Innokin tanks are compatible with this version so users have a wide range of options if they want to use something other than the stock coils in this kit.

What’s In the Kit

The Zenith is a simplified tank that is aimed at new vapers so its contents are also spartan. It comes only with the necessary accessories and not much else, which is a good thing.

Here’s what you’ll get when receiving Innokin.

  • One Zenith Tank
  • One 1.6ohm Zenith Coil
  • One 0.8ohm Zenith Coil
  • One Extra Delrin Drip Tip
  • Spare Parts & O-Rings
  • User Manual

Things to Know about the Innokin Zenith

The Innokin Zenith is designed for new vapers and does not have a complicated set-up. Its parts are all intuitive and even new vapers would not have a difficult time getting to use it. The airflow control ring is self-explanatory and gives users a good variety of options to control their vape, as it allows for tight draws or huge cloud production.

Innokin Zenith build

The drip tip is a standard 510-Delrin mouthpiece that is not wide-bore but still gives a good amount of vapor for those looking for an authentic mouth-to-lung experience. As the tank is aimed at beginners, the wire inside the coil heads is Kanthal so they are not compatible with temperature control vaping, which is something that mostly experienced vapers enjoy.

Still, as there are several coil options from the entire Zenith family, users who want a sub-ohm or direct-lung experience can also purchase those coils, which last for quite a while.

Instructions

The tank is very easy to use. It has a self-contained design so there are not a lot of parts to it. The top cap does not need to be removed, as it twists open to expose the fill port. There are no push-to-release buttons or swivel-back top caps that expose the fill port and the air chimney, which might confuse new users who could fill the chimney instead of the fill ports.

The coil base and top cap are removable, but the one downside is that the glass section is not removable from the central tank structure, so if it breaks, you are in trouble. The design of the twistable top cap and the juice-flow mechanism is intended to prevent a tank from flooding the coil, which is a problem that other tanks have.

When tank is flooded, it can gurgle and create spit-back as the chimney gets flooded and uses to taste their e-liquid, but not in the way they want. The juice flow control ring lets users regulate the saturation of the organic cotton wicks that other tanks do not always allow.

How Do the Coils Perform?

The two coils included in the Innokin Zenith kit are rated for 1.6 ohms and 0.8ohms, which provide a good variety for new users to explore different vaping styles. Using the 1.6ohm coil, which vapes best between 10-14W, gives off superior flavor while keeping the cloud production to a minimum, which is what you want from an exclusively MTL tank.

The 0.8ohm coil does not depart so much from the performance of the MTL coil, as it has only a slightly higher power range, as it vapes best between 14-17W. Using it with a wide-open airflow does produce a near-direct-lung experience with good cloud production without overwhelming new users with more vapor than they can handle.

The Innokin Zenith Paired with the Kroma-A Mod

The Kroma-A mod is a near-perfect companion mod for the Innokin Zenith tank’s capabilities (other options include the Innokin Coolfire or the MVP-4). The device features an internal 2000mAh battery that can reach a high-power output of only 75W so it is a starter device.

The unit has a contoured shape that gives it a comfortable, ergonomic grip for easy handling. The Kroma-A also features a thin sliver of an OLED display that runs along the side so users can see their vital vaping information.

Despite the Kanthal wire coils that come with the stand-alone tank, the Kroma-A and Zenith kit features the same Kanthal coils but with different resistances. The kit comes with a 1.6ohm Kanthal coil along with a 0.5ohm coil for a better sub-ohm experience. The Kroma-A is temperature control-compatible so users could also attach different coils styles with this mod.

The Vape

The Innokin Zenith tank is a great starter tank for new vapers. It is easy to use, all-around, from filling the tank to installing and removing the coils. The juice-flow control also lets users prevent spit-back and gurgling e-juice, which is something that could potentially put off new users to vaping.

Innokin Zenith x2

The airflow control ring lets users decide how much or how little air they want to have when vaping. The five air holes can be played around with, so users can find the perfect setting for them and their preferences. The pre-installed 1.6ohm coil gives off a solid, mouth-to-lung cloud that delivers an excellent throat hit, especially if there is an even 50/50 VG/PG e-liquid in the tank.

Using a high-nicotine e-liquid is also recommended with these coils, as users will get more of the nicotine than of the e-juices flavor profiles. Either of the two coils in the kit should provide users enough of a nicotine hit so they can conceivably make the switch from cigarettes to e-cigarettes.

Competing Tanks

VaporFi Vibe Tank

The Vibe tank is a beefy MTL and DL tank atomizer with a reinforced glass section. The tank can hold up to 3.5ml of e-liquid and comes with two sub-ohm coils so they are compatible temperature control vaping.

One coil is rated at 0.25ohms, while the other has a resistance of 0.5ohms coils. The Vibe also has five air intake holes, but at the top, and they are fully adjustable.

Innokin Glide Tank

The Innokin Glide tank is another entry in the Z-Series style of tanks that features a 4ml e-juice capacity (2ml for TPD countries) and uses an advanced Plex-3D mesh coil system that provides an excellent cloud-chasing experience. The Glide is a much more advanced tank atomizer that features a push-back top cap and uses an all-resin mouthpiece.

VD Innokin Zlide

This tank does have a removable glass section for easy cleaning, while its top cap and base are also threaded and fully removable. The airflow design on this tank features a bottom airflow control ring that users can adjust for either a sub-ohm or a mouth-to-lung vape.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Easy-to-use
  • Solid build material
  • Great mouth-to-lung experience
  • Great flavor profile
  • Coils are easy to remove and install
  • Juice flow control prevents spit back

Cons

  • Not very attractive
  • The glass part is not removable

Conclusion: Innokin Zenith Tank Review: A Beginner’s Tank

The Innokin Zenith tank is an excellent introduction to mouth-to-lung vaping, and vaping, in general. It features an easy-to-use design that is near-foolproof. There are not a lot of moving parts to it so it is easy-to-fill, as well allowing for simple, Plug and Play coil installation. It has an excellent airflow control ring that gives users options as to how they want to vape.

The coils in the kit are also good for users who want to explore direct-lung vaping if they either leave the airflow holes exposed or not exposed. The entire tank being of one piece does present some problems if it were to break, so be careful not to drop it. The tank is compatible with several low-wattage, 510-mods, and pairs easily with any Innokin mod or any other brand.

I love the written word, and in my career as a journalist, I strive to provide the facts about everything I write about. There are too many false and alarmist stories out there about life and vaping mainly. My mission is to make e-cigarettes less scary to people with informative articles and extensive research on not only the possible evils of cigarettes and Big Tobacco, but the objective side of e-cigs.
