Loading ThisThingRips R2
Loading process of this device has no difference from the similar wax vape pens. Just pull out a mouthpiece to get access to the heating chamber and using an applicator put a small amount of wax directly into the chamber. You can use your silicone jar which comes in the kit. It is so convenient to take small amounts of wax from there because it doesn’t stick at all. Try not to touch heating elements and chamber walls to avoid damage.
As soon as the chamber is filled with wax, attach vapor path and a mouthpiece and turn on the device. To turn it on, quickly press a power button 5 times in a row. The LED light around the button will begin to blink, which means that the device is turned on. If you are ready to start, press a power button and begin to inhale the coming steam.
Using ThisThingRips R2
R2 feels heavy in hand. It lies stealthily in a bunch of fives. Not too small inside, its ceramic rod atomizer comes with a calibrated low-temperature coil, which is definitely a state of the art. This coil heats quickly and maintains a precise temperature ideal for not overheating your wax while letting you get the pleasure from that natural and intense taste. A threaded chamber is easy to clean, which is crucial for a wax pen. Plus, a brand new R+ airflow system prevents you from burning your material on too high levels, which gives an unpleasant stoned effect (though, if you like being stoned, go for the highest settings right away). Such a secret technology of airflow also ensures easy, smooth and massive drags of vapor from such a small tool.
As we already mentioned, ThisThingRips R2 gives the chance to set voltage level manually, which is simple and convenient for users who don’t want to mess around with precise watts, ohms, and amperes. The chamber warms up in only 1-2 seconds. Thus, we can assume that the device has a quite powerful technology of heating. This assumption was confirmed when we tested R2 and received really thick and saturated steam. This vaporizer will suit those who want to get an enormous amount of vapor, at the same time, without an overpowering effect of the wax dab.
In case of more intensive wax heating, the vapor can cause irritation of a throat and lungs that results in coughing. To receive a softer vapor, retain the button within several seconds, and after you made the first inhaling, do pulsating clicking to reduce the temperature.
R2 uses the EGO 650 mAh battery which is used practically in each device. Actually, as a result of testing, R2 discharges much quicker, than other devices of this kind (for example, Linx Hypnos Zero), most likely because of the set high-voltage mode.
The battery charger looks a little cheap therefore be ready that, perhaps it is necessary to buy a new one within several months of use.
In case you were wondering, the R2 Vaporizer is approximately 2.5 x 6.25 x 1.75 inch. Weight is just 0.32 lbs. Amazingly tiny for this range of features included:
- Ceramic chamber
- Three voltage setting
- Portable and ergonomic
- Safety lock
- Short battery life
- Fragile USB charger
- No wall charger adapter
How it Compares
If you are an active vaper looking for a more pro and functional device, we recommend trying Source Orb 4 premium kit, which delivers with six atomizers. Eight available voltage settings along with various coils or coilless atomizers can give you the exact amount of vapor and taste correlation you want.
And if you look at V2 Pro Series 3X vape pen made for concentrates and dry herbs, you can see a voltage, temperature and airflow control there, which may seem a little bit more advanced. Although, in this kind of thin, portable devices like wax pens there’s no display indicating what setting exactly you’re on. You only have to trust a few pre-set modes with color indicators. Hardcore vapers try to push it to the limit because it looks like more vapor production. But be careful with your material if you want to get the best of it. For the maximum flavor and smiling, you need that voltage and temperature to be somewhere around medium.
All in All
ThisThingRips R2 from Stok is an ideal example of the superiority of the fashion put together with a robust functionality. Indeed, the general overlook of the device really meets market expectations and needs. The great thing about it is to find a really good quality of every single piece inside the box. This vape pen actually looks like a pen with a cap on it, that is why it deserves our applause for conspiracy.
Anyway, ThisThingRips R2 is a worthy choice for the beginner, who wants to get acquainted with wax vaporizers.
We give it a high grade 8 of 10
