Smok is great at making large and beastly devices, but is there a point where it is just too much? In the SMOK GX350 Kit, 350 Watts is helpful if you are an endurance vaper and having the biggest and baddest device will surely give you an advantage. However, is it practical for the average vaper, let’s find out?

Checking out the SMOK GX350 and Unboxing

Smok, in my opinion, has never really been about fancy boxes it is more about practicality so if you are looking for a flashy box to maybe hold the device in you should not hold your breath for the GX350’s kit.

On the front, it just has the standard Smok logo with an orange sideways triangle and a picture of the device nothing too special no fancy flaps or exciting design here. On the back, it has everything you would expect, short description and the list of what’s inside.

Opening the SMOK GX350 Kit, you get the GTX350 device displayed all pretty for you taking it out and the foam insert, exposes the rest of the kit. User manual, warning cards, etc. Next, is the TFV8 Cloud Beas, the USB cable spare coil, and spare parts.

This kit has everything you are going to need to start vaping, minus the 4x 18650 batteries which you are going to need to purchase separately or scavenge from four other 18650 mods. Would have been nice to see batteries included, but as per the norm, they usually are not.

What you get in the SMOK GX350 Kit

  • Smok GX350 Mod
  • Smok TFV8 Cloud Beast
  • V8-T8 Coil
  • V8-Q4 Coil
  • Replacement Glass Tube
  • Spare Parts
  • User Manual

Impressions on the Device

The SMOK GX350 Kit at first glance is massive, at least to the eyes I found. However, once you grab the monstrosity and hold it in your hand you can finally realize just what Smok was going for with this design – we will go into the design just below. I think 350W is a bit overkill; however, if you are someone who needs all that power to last you for days then this is definitely the device for you.

Eye Candy and Design

The device itself has this curved poly-angular design – yeah that is a mouthful. What that means is that Smok has intuitively designed the device to fit ergonomically in hand, as to not feel overly bulky compared to other 4x battery designs. I have to say they really nailed it with the design, and it fits really darn well to my surprise in hand, which overall makes it comfy to hold for more extended periods of time.

Another smart move they made what give it a pull button trigger or fire button, which means that you can literally have your hand wrapped around the device and all you need to do is squeeze your fingertips to fire it up, pretty neat!

The outer design is pretty typical for the rest of Smok designs with angular trimming and a carbon fiber inlay to give it a premium look.

The Cloud Beast tank that comes with the kit sits well with the device, and it matches the large design. I personally do like this tank, which we will go in-depth on more below.

The Size, does it work?

As mentioned above, the way they have designed it makes it work, I think other companies looking to get into the larger mod or are in, the larger mod game will have to adapt to something similar. The feel and size at 84.5mm by 58mm by 40.4mm just blow everything else away, well at least for larger mods.

How to use the GX350

First of all, you need to grab yourself four 18650 batteries and throw them in the mod. I noticed that that battery hinge was a super pain in the butt, it has to be one of the hardest to close it just really sucks; however, that only may have been a single case with the mod we have. Tossing on the Cloud beast is simple as ever, as both mod and tank have 510 connections.

Turning on the mod is as comfortable as any device five simple clicks turn it on, the OLED screen comes on and displays necessary information. In the top left is the wattage level, to the right of that is a little [N], which means the vaping strength is set to normal. Battery level indicators are also shown, along with resistance and voltage levels. Lastly is a vape timer. All basic stuff I found useful for running the mod, nothing unique or special but it gets the job done.

Making Changes

Again, I only found basic controls on the SMOK GX350 Kit no fancy touch buttons or unique settings; however, there was enough to tweak that any avid vaper will have enough to do and change that getting the best setting for you should be no problem.

Firstly, to lock the device you just must hit the plus and minus buttons or click the fire button quickly five times. Changing the vape strength requires the plus button and the fire button to be pressed at the same time. You can switch between normal, hard and soft. Minus button and the fire button together gives you the choice of wattage and temperature controls, in temperature control mode the device can go as high as 600’F holding the plus button switches it to Celsius. In Celsius mode, the temperature adjusts in 5-degree increments. Also, I found you can even customize the wattage in temperature control mode by hitting the plus button and fire button in respected mode.

To get into the menu, hit the fire button three times. In the menu there are a handful of options the ones that I found are:

  • Mode – In this setting, you can change between Wattage mode and Temperature control mode. Selecting one of the parameters lets you choose wattage levels or temperature level, moving to the next menu lets you choose the coil type. Selecting a coil enables you to adjust the TCR settings to your liking.
  • Puff – This setting lets you set up how the mod tracks your puffs.
  • Contrast – In this setting lets you choose the brightness and contrast of the screen.
  • Screen – Here you can rotate the screen to your choosing.
  • Power – This option is another way to turn the device off, alternatively you can just lock the device and hold the power button after a few seconds it should turn off.
  • Settings:
    • Stealth – Allows you to turn on and off the display
    • Screen Time – This setting lets you choose how long before the screen goes dark

TFV8 Cloud Beast Tank

This tank is a beast one of my favorites just the coil selection alone makes it worth it. I mean at 25.5mm in Diameter this thing is enormous, with 6ml of juice too I was vaping all day long. The GX350 is pushing this stuff. I never had to worry about battery all day. It has a top-fill design also so it’s easy to refill and the adjustable airflow just seals the deal. Can only can good things about it, except for maybe the drip tip doesn’t feel super great. Overall not bad.

TFV8 Cloud Beast Tank Features

  • 25.5mm in Diameter
  • 6ML Capacity
  • Stainless Steel Construction
  • Top-Fill Design
  • Dual Adjustable Airflow
  • Black Delrin Ultra-Wide Drip Tip
  • Supports Many Types of Coils
  • 510 Connection

GX350 and Cloud Beast Performance

I prefer to vape on the low of the wattage spectrum, between 30-70 watts, and with this combo (V8-T8 coil) that is more than possible with the airflow half closed. For me, this setup is really overkilling it, but as mention before if you are a hardcore vaper this device is right up your alley.

Switching to the V8-Q4 coil which is recommended for between 90-150W I found has a better flavor which is probably true as it was a new coil. Vaping between 60-70W gave great flavor, going a bit higher 90-110W I had to open the airflow all the way not to destroy my lungs.

Going any higher just seems absurd to me, why someone would need 350W, and four batteries are beyond me. However, again if you are a super elite vaper dude or dudette then go for it, it is a beast pun intended.

The End Result

As I have probably mentioned a few times if you are just a casual vaper, it is perhaps best that you look for something smaller and more manageable than SMOK GX350 Kit. However, I must credit Smok for taking on the large mod market, the design reigns supreme here, with a little downfall. If they can manage to make some changes and add some unique features, then the for sure have themselves a winner.

I cannot wait to see what else Smok will come up with next.

It wasn’t your GX350 that blew up. It would have been dodgy batteries that you bought for it that blew up.
