The Smok G-Priv 220 watt box mod combines the best and most advanced technology Smok has to offer. The result is a vape kit with a touch screen that is the envy of the vaping industry, as well as a high wattage system that incorporates several temperature control modes for all types of wires.

It also has five settings for heat up speed as well as pre-heating for temperature control mode.

Smok G-Priv 220w Kit Review

The first thing one notices about the Smok G-Priv is its short and stout size. It measures 85 x 58.5 x 28 mm, which is the perfect size for a mod. It has two side panels and a spring-loaded 510 connection on which 25 mm atomizers fit perfectly. The chassis is made out of zinc alloy, and it has a plastic firing bar. Dual batteries power the vape, and the battery doors have lovely carbon fiber inlays and strong magnets to keep the doors secure.

The G-Priv vape kit has a lot of power, with a range starting at one watt and going to 220. It has excellent temperature control, allowing the user to adjust from 200 to 600 degrees Fahrenheit. There are also modes for ni200, titanium, and stainless steel coils, and the vape also has a temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) adjustments. Users have the option to choose atomizer heating settings — select minimum, maximum, soft, normal, and hard.

What many people like about this vape kit is its touch screen. It is highly intuitive, responsive, and there are no bugs or glitches, allowing for a high degree of control. It is also huge, measuring 2.4-inches, and covering almost the entire side of the mod. Besides being highly responsive, the readout is very easy to read, discern, and control. The image is similar to that of high-definition television. The screen displays the power levels of both batteries, it shows the wattage level, it has a puff counter, and it even shows the time of day. It also shows resistance, applied voltage, and amperage.

The vape kit comes with the mod, of course, as well as one TFV8 Big Baby tank. The vape tank has a V8-X4 coil installed in it, and there is a V8-T6 replacement coil head, as well as a spare glass tube. Spare parts and an instruction manual are included in the kit.

Internal Building Quality and Design

The quality of this vape kit is outstanding. The chassis is constructed from a zinc alloy, and the touch screen is made from shatterproof glass. The exterior is also nice-looking with a futuristic design that includes vibrant colors like red, gold, and black. The downside of the design is that the touchscreen is a fingerprint magnet, but that in no way affects performance.

Battery Performance

The vape kit uses dual 18650 batteries. One of the best aspects of this vape is that the batteries can be charged while inside. It is difficult to make estimates about battery life for any mod, but one noticeable thing about it is how the touch screen drains the battery. When it is on, expect to get an hour less vaping time.

The Smok G-Priv TFV8 Big Baby Tank

The Big Baby tank is a larger version of the Baby Beast vape tank. These tanks hold 5.0 ml of e-juice, and it is capable of supporting three coils rated for various wattages: 0.4 ohm and 0.15 ohm X4 and T8 coils. It would be nice if it had a bubble tank, but it has a high enough juice capacity, so the extra space is not needed.

Users can expect a reliable performance no matter which coils are put in these vape tanks. At 70 to 90 watts, the flavor and vapor are smooth and similar to that of an RBA. Once over 110 watts, the taste is more potent, and the clouds get very thick. Once over 130 watts, it starts to dry hit every four or five pulls. The sweet spot for this tank is 70 to 120 watts.

How Long to the Coils Last?

The coils for these TFV8 Big Baby tanks will last one to four weeks. Running coils in these tanks at high wattages all the time will cause them to burn out in a week or less, but running them under 120 watts will extend their life considerably. To get coils in these tanks to last four weeks, make sure to prime them properly before putting them into the tank.

How to Use the Smok G-Priv Vape Kit?

These mods are easy to use.

  • Once the vape arrives, remove the battery door and put two 18650 batteries inside.
  • Then, click the top button near the tank to turn on the vape.
  • Click the firing key three times to lock the vape. Holding the top button down also locks it.
  • Press the top button once to turn off the screen and go into stealth mode.
  • To adjust wattage, touch the wattage counter, and two arrows will appear.
  • Touch these arrows to increase or decrease wattage.
  • Hold down the firing key to vape.

At the top, the left corner of the screen is an arrow. Click it, and it takes you to the settings screen. Here, the user can choose the power mode or change the device’s settings.

To refill the vape tank, push the top until it slides away and exposes the fill port. Drip the juice inside through the fill port and put the top back as it was. To remove or change the coil, unscrew the bottom and then extract the coil. Do these steps in reverse to put a new coil inside. Gently tug on the glass to remove it.

Vaping Experience

The vaping experience with this vape mod kit and the Big Baby tank is phenomenal, just as customers have come to expect from Smok’s mods. The multiple settings allow the user to find the most comfortable way to vape. Plus, the three coils work splendidly, bringing the user excellent flavor and vapor. However, as previously pointed out, it starts to dry hit at high wattages.

Competing Vape Mods

Smok G-Priv vs. Smok Alien Kit

The Alien is another 220-watt box mod kit. It has the same temperature range, and it supports Ni200, titanium, and stainless steel heating wires. There is a significant difference in terms of build quality.

The battery doors for each vape kit are different. The Alien’s battery door hangs on a hinge, and sometimes it can snap off. The Smok G-Priv’s door is held in place with a magnet, so the user does not have to worry about it breaking.

Smok G-Priv vs. x Smok X-Priv Kit

There is a lot to like about both of these mods. The mods both produce excellent flavor and vapor thanks to their quality tanks. The X-Priv uses the TFV12 Prince Tank, and the advantage to this is that the user can install the massive 8 ml extension tank.

One problem with the X-Priv is that it leaks when it is first refilled, and the Smok G-Priv does not have that problem. The good news on that front is that the X-Priv does not leak after the first refill.

Smok G-Priv vs. Smok G-Priv 2 Kit

Smok G-Priv 2 has a lot of impressive features. It is more powerful than the Smok G-Priv, going up to 230 watts, and it uses the new X Baby tank. The tank has the less e-juice capacity, though, but it is only a 1 ml difference, which is barely noticeable.

The most significant difference between these two box mods is the touch screen. The G-Priv 2’s screen has been upgraded so that it is 20 percent sharper, and it has an updated IPS 200PPI to make it easier to navigate.
