The iJoy MAXO 315W is the first ever quadruple 18650 box mod. As a result, this means it has a longer life than the average triple 18650 box mods. Firstly, users will have great customization options. This is thanks to the 10 leather stickers that come in the box. For decoration and combinations, you get some base color options. They include red, yellow, gray, and blue (the last one is a limited edition)

The Device Basics

iJOY MAXO 315W Device Review

Apparently, the iJoy Maxo is an inexpensive alternate to the Wismec Reuleaux. You get everything without compromising on performance and power. What’s more, you get the added bonus of a long-lasting battery. Maxo is basically a temperature-control quad-battery box mod. 2015 was the year when triple 18650 mods really gained popularity. And this continued throughout 2016. Now quadruple 18650 mods are changing this trend due to their affordability. Here are the details.

Heat Coil And Temperature Settings

They equipped the iJoy MAXO with temperature control. ‘This is for its nickel, titanium and stainless steel components. It also comes with a compatibility up to 0.06ohms. The firmware in this device is upgradeable as well. There is one main question on everybody’s mind regarding this product. It is why would anyone even desire such an extraordinarily high wattage level anyway? We think that 315W is just for advertising purposes. The MAXO probably can reach up to a maximum 300W.

The highest wattage at which we tested the product out is at 150W. However, other than testing, the best setting for us is 80W. We did both with the power mode and temperature control setting. Something that struck us as odd was that the iJoy MAXO doesn’t go beyond 80W. Nothing wrong with this though as it satisfied us. Everything started just after pressing the power button. There is no delay in operation nor any performance glitches.

We tested the built-in protection out. We did it for the sake of checking whether they actually work. It included all three protective measures. We tested the short-circuit, the reverse polarity and the low battery voltage protection. Indeed, they operated smoothly. There was no way to test out the overheating protection without burning out our device. Therefore, that was the only feature we did not test. But they assured us that it will work well.

What Makes the iJoy MAXO Beautiful?

The hexagon shape of the iJoy MAXO reminds us of the design of the Wismex RX200. However, the former is heavier and bulkier. This is a given because of the battery storage requirements. The dimensions of the mod are 64mm x 41mm x 89mm with a 0.23kh weight. In addition, the composition is zinc alloy, except the spring center pin at the top. They made that from stainless steel.

All the buttons along with the display screen are at the sides of the box mod. We really like how the buttons don’t rattle when you shake the device. They are firmly in place. It really isn’t attractive when a box mod has buttons that make noise or move from their place. This is because it just looks cheap.

The OLED screen displays the wattage and temperature in large font. Other functions displayed include the voltage, resistance, and battery.

Ease Of Carry And Discreetness

We have mentioned this before but we should mention it again that the iJoy MAXO is quite heavy. As a result, this doesn’t assist its portability. It also garners attention in public but these factors aren’t necessarily disadvantages. The product states that it is a 4-battery mod, and doesn’t try to pass off as a small device. Plus, if you are willing to overlook the size and weight, the performance will amazed you.

Which Accessories Come With the Mod?

The contents of the kit are pretty standard- a quad-battery mod, a charging USB cable, and a user’s manual. There is also a bag of stickers included for customizing the look of your mod. iJoy provided five pairs of stickers with different colors and textures. These aren’t cheap looking and really do look good on the mod. However, their adhesive isn’t that great and once removed, you can’t use them again. You can always buy new stickers. Otherwise, it would have been nice if the company just included magnetic stickers instead. They are trendy in the vaping industry right now.

How Long is the Battery Life of the iJoy MAXO?

iJOY MAXO 315W Battery Review

There are two options for powering the iJoy MAXO. You may either use it with four of the 18650 batteries and achieve a top wattage of 315W. Otherwise, you may use two of the 18650 batteries for a top wattage of 160W. They store and load the batteries through the compartment at the bottom of the mod. We highly recommend that you charge the batteries external to the mod for a longer-lasting life. This is also a safety precaution. Then again, you have the option of charging the battery while it is inside the device.

iJoy MAXO Specifications

Weight: 349 g
Wattage: 5-315 W
Resistance: 0.06-3 ohm
Battery: 4 x 18650

Pros&Cons

Pros

  • 315w power
  • Customizable appearance
  • Zinc Alloy build material
  • Upgradable firmware
  • Screen rotation function
  • IWEPAL chip grants different power modes

Cons

  • Eats a lot of Batteries

The Verdict

The iJoy MAXO has an astonishing battery life and delivers a fantastic performance. These are the reasons it is great for everyone. However, if you specifically want an easy to carry and use device, this may not be the right choice for you. Personally, we think that that you are getting great value for the price. Furthermore, the performance is nowhere near shabby.
