The Xtra pod from Vaporesso is a highly portable pod mod that uses a 900 mah internal battery that can last forseveral days. The battery can be monitored by checking the LED light built into the vape. It flashes different colors depending on the pod mod’s power levels.

Each starter kit comes with two pods that hold 2 ml of liquid and are suitable for mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung vaping. The pod can be draw-activated, or it can be turned on by clicking the firing button at the base several times.

Vaporesso Xtra Pod Review

Those who have been waiting for Vaporesso to come out with a vape that can do a little extra are in luck. The Xtra pod is a 16w device that lasts a long time between charges. It also has a rugged design and low resistance coils. The coils allow the user to pull restricted mouth-to-lung hits, or deep direct-to-lung draws. It is really easy to switch between the two pods because the device can read the coil and adjust the wattage accordingly. The pods are wicked with flax cotton tech instead of CCELL.

The vaping experience is over the top with this vape. Expect to get warm and puffy draws from these pods every time. Adding to the vaping experience is that there are no structural problems with the cartridges, such as leaks, spit back, or flooding. Another factor that improves the experience is the ergonomic design of the pods. The mouthpiece is designed to fit any shaped mouth without causing discomfort. Finally, the flavor and vapor coming out of these pods are world-class. One could not ask for better flavor or vapor production from a pod mod.

There are a lot of other small features built into this vape that makes it worth considering purchasing. For one, the pods are mostly transparent, so it is easy to monitor the juice levels, and there are strong magnets that keep them practically locked to the pod mod. Also, there is an LED light that makes it easy to monitor the battery levels. All of these features and the vape’s low price make this an excellent vape for everyone, especially those who want something that can go everywhere.

What Comes with the Kit?

The Vaporesso Xtra’s kit comes with the battery, two pods, and a USB cable. Also included is a user manual, warranty card, and a reminder card.

Build Quality and Design

The Xtra was designed to be a portable vape, which is why it has rounded curves on both sides, and it is rectangle-shaped with no sharp edges. The pod’s surface has an anti-skid coated surface that prevents it from slipping out of the user’s hands. Another thing to like about the design and build quality is that the vape is made from metal.

The metal construction significantly improves the product’s structural integrity. The power button is at the base of the vape, and while it is oddly placed, it is clicky and decently sized.

Battery

The Xtra pod uses a 900 mah internal battery that can last two to three days. The battery lasts longer when the 1.2-ohm pod is being used, but even with the sub-ohm mesh pod, it can last well over a day or two refills before needing to be recharged. The vape has several vent holes drilled into the bottom to prevent the battery from overheating.

Pod

The pods are a 0.8-ohm mesh Unipod and a 1.2-ohm regular Unipod. They hold 2 ml of nicotine juice, and they are refilled through two large fill ports protected by a rubber plug. The mouthpieces are wide and designed like duckbills so that they fit comfortably between the lips. Magnets are used to hold the pods in place.

Easily monitor the liquid levels by looking through the pod’s tinted plastic. Both cartridges use non-replaceable fixed coils. These coils both use the same airflow control, and they produce excellent vapor and flavor. The mesh coil is for cloud chasers and those who like direct-to-lung draws. The regular coil is for mouth-to-lung vaping and higher nicotine liquids.

VD Vaporesso XTRA Pod

Vaporesso Xtra replacement pods are available, and they are not cheap and the high price of these pods is one of the biggest drawbacks to buying this starter kit.

How Long Do the Coils Last?

The longevity of the coils in the cartridges is an important consideration. They cannot be replaced. Like most pods, their life depends on how often they are used. If the device is chain vaped multiple times a day, do not expect the wires to last more than a week. If used moderately to sparingly, the pod will last two to four weeks.

How to Use the Xtra

The Xtra from Vaporesso is straightforward to use. Inhale to turn it or press the firing button five times to turn it on or off. There is an LED light on the side of the vape that shines in three colors: green, blue, and red.

A green light means that the device is between 100 and 74 percent charged, while a blue light indicates a 70 to 31 percent charge. The red light means the vape soon needs to be recharged. There is not much to do with the pods other than refilling them since the coils are non-replaceable.

The Instruction Manual

Even though this is an easy vape to use, please look at the instruction manual before operating it. The manual is easy to read and very well written, it explains everything there is to know about this pod mod.

The Vaporesso Xtra’s Competitors

Xtra vs. Caliburn

The Uwell Caliburn is an 11-watt pod system with an aluminum alloy chassis, a 520 mah battery, and a 2 ml refillable pod.

Uwell Caliburn button

The device uses Pro-FOCS technology to improve the flavor. The Caliburn is much more ergonomic and comfortable to hold because it is shaped like a thumb drive. But the Xtra goes up to higher wattages, and it has a more powerful battery.

Xtra vs. Osmall

The Osmall is a device that has a form factor similar to the Uwell Caliburn, giving it a slight edge over the Xtra in terms of portability. It can fire to 11 watts, and a 350 mah battery powers it.

Osmall Vaporesso

The Osmall is a good vape, but, as with the Caliburn, it does not stack up to the Xtra all that well in terms of battery life and wattage output.

Positives and Negatives

The Positives

  • Ergonomic and portable
  • Excellent build quality
  • Long battery life
  • Good flavor and vapor
  • Anti-slip covering

The Negatives

  • Magnets for securing the pods are too strong

Final Thoughts about the Xtra

There are not too many bad things to say about the Xtra. It is a highly portable vape that can do 11 to 16w, and its battery life is phenomenal. Plus, the price makes this vape a must-buy for anyone looking for a low priced and portable vape.

This pod mod is one of Vaporesso’s top devices. The only thing needs to be improved is the pods. Vaporesso Xtra pods are devilishly expensive. If Vaporesso ever makes a second version of this pod, they should consider making the coils replaceable.
