Uwell Kalmia is a pod mod built from lightweight polycarbonates and Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) material. It guarantees a satisfying vaping experience by providing reliable performance and simple operation.

It has a minimalistic but sophisticated design, with no buttons or screens. It does, however, feature a one-of-a-kind snowflake-shaped LED indicator.

Uwell Kalmia Review

This pod system has an elegant and sleek design that makes it ideal for vapers. The device’s edges are smooth, thin, and rounded, making it comfortable to hold and use. Its matte black finish ensures that it does not collect fingerprints. So the surface always appears polished.

The mouthpiece is beautifully shaped. It has a drip tip that fits perfectly on your lips and is light enough to use hands-free. Also, the vape is secured magnetically in the device.

Vapor Production

The vape produces a moderate amount of vapor. It employs the same proprietary design feature as other Uwell products. However, it has a tighter draw than other Uwell pod mods, making the vapor feel warmer.

What's Inside the Kit?

The Uwell Kalmia kit is one of the few vape systems that includes a spare pod with a brand-new coil, an entirely new cartridge. The following is a list of everything that comes with the product kit.

  • The device
  • Spare Kalmia refillable pod
  • USB Type-C cord
  • User Guide

Battery Performance

The batteries have a capacity of 400 mAh and can supply up to 13 watts of power. While the battery life of this device may appear to be relatively short, the lack of buttons and screens ensures that the battery power is maximized.

The mod features a USB Type-C port for fast charging, and multiple tests show that it charges completely in about 32 minutes on average.

LED Light Indicator

The device has a special LED indicator shaped like a flower on the front of the device. The LED lights up when the pod is inserted correctly, when it connects to the battery, and when the pod is taken out.

The color of the LED can also indicate the battery level. If the battery is charged above 60%, the LED will glow pink. When the battery is between 60% and 30% charged, the LED turns blue; when the battery is below 30%, the color changes to red.

Pod Features

Uwell’s exclusive and patented flavor-preserving innovation known as “Pro-Focs” technology is featured in the Kalmia vape. Vapers can now enjoy the authentic flavors of their freebase or nicotine salt e-juice in the vapor produced more than ever before.

Haptic feedback is another cool feature. The significance of vibration in pods is frequently overlooked by manufacturers of vapes.

Thankfully, the Kalmia designers have equipped the device with the necessary motors to enable vibration response. So, the device vibrates when the pod is in the right place, when the charger is plugged in, or when the battery is running low.

What Kind of Juice Does the Uwell Kalmai Use?

It was designed for e-liquids with a maximum VG of 60%. This means the device will vape perfectly if the VG/PG ratio of e-liquid is between 50/50 and 60/40.

Higher VG-ratio e-liquids are not recommended. This is because the thicker e-juice would eventually clog up the coil’s wick and cause a blockage, making it hard to draw air through the coil.

After a few days of use, the user may notice a tighter airflow from the device. This apparent design flaw is caused by the original tight draw combined with the 1.2-ohm coil resistance.

Coil Nature

The coil is a 1.2ohm Kanthal Mesh coil. Like most pods today, its coil is not replaceable. Once the coil gets burnt out, the whole cartridge has to be replaced. Thankfully, the kit box comes with a spare pod.

Also, the coils do not exceed 13 watts, allowing the device’s relatively small battery to last longer.

How to Use the Uwell Kalmia

If you’re new to vaping, you can easily use the mod if you follow these steps.

  1. Remove the pod from the device if the vape is newly acquired, and take off the piece of plastic that covers the coil at the bottom of the cartridge.
  2. To fill the cartridge, turn it to the side where there is a black rubber cover that says “OPEN.” Pull up the rubber and fill the cartridge through the hole.
  3. Allow the pod to sit for about 5 minutes after filling if using the coil for the first time. This lets the coil soak up enough of the e-liquids.
  4. Put the pod back into the device. To indicate that the pod has been properly connected, the device would vibrate, and the LED would light up.
  5. Now, simply draw on the mouthpiece to enjoy your vaping session. The Kalmia is that easy to use.
  6. The e-liquid level can be checked by looking through the cartridge, and it can be refilled through the same side port when it runs low.

Comparison With Competing Products

Uwell Kalmia Vs. Uwell Caliburn G2

Uwell Caliburn G2 Review

Many vapers would refer to the Uwell Caliburn series as Uwell’s most prominent line of pods. So it makes sense that the makers used Caliburn’s model for designing the Kalmia.

However, there’s a significant difference between the Caliburn G2 and Kalmia systems. The Kalmia features a side-fill pod, while the Caliburn series all have a top-fill design.

Uwell Kalmia Vs. Aspire Favostix Mini

aspire favostix mini review

The Aspire Favostix Mini vaping device has a minimalist design with an effortless and user-friendly operation. It is compatible with both freebase and nicotine salt e-liquid.

The Favostix Mini differs from the Kalmia in that it features a bottom-filling pod and a 700 mAh battery. Still, the device lacks the premium feel the user experiences with the Uwell Kalmia.

My way of understanding the significance of vaping came not only through the disruption of smoking but its effects on society as a whole. Now I bring people to vaping and bring vaping to people. I love using new gear, writing in-depth reviews and generally nerding out about vaping to like-minded people.
