The Smok G-Priv Pro is one of the best put-together mods Smok has ever made.

The refilling system is simple and easy to use, and the vape experience is phenomenal because of the kit’s excellent coils and the outstanding direct-to-lung airflow.

Smok G-Priv Pro 80w Kit Review

The Smok G-Priv Pro is an 80 watt pod mod with a 5.5 ml pod that uses a single 18650 battery. The device is made from zinc alloy and is designed to be portable and easy to transport.

Smok G-Priv Pro 80W Colors

It produces a high amount of vapor and has an impressive starter kit, and it compares very well with competing products.

These features make it the perfect vape for people who want something that is a step up from fixed wattage mods that use disposable pods.

Vapor Production

This starter kit comes with two sub-ohm coils that produce a lot of vapor. After inhaling with the airflow fully open, a user will have to exhale two or three times to get all the vapor out of his or her lungs.

Power Modes

This vape does not have any power modes. Instead, it is a straight wattage mod.

Safety Features

  • Low Voltage Protection
  • Short-Circuit Protection
  • 8 Seconds Cut-Off

Smok G-Priv Pro vs. Smok G-Priv

These are both very similar mods, and there are not many differences between them. The only real difference is in the batteries. The pro version uses a 18650, while the G-Priv uses an onboard 2,500 mah battery.

Considering that the specifications for these vapes are nearly identical, vapers cannot go wrong with either of these vapes. But people who prefer replaceable batteries should go with the pro version.

Inside the G-Priv Pro Kit

Build and Design Quality

The build and design quality are fantastic. There is no rattling, and everything fits together perfectly. The best thing about the design is the battery door.

It pops open by pushing a tab and can be pushed right back down again. Also, the imitation leather grip is a nice touch. The only complaint is the excessive branding.

Battery

As earlier stated, the vape is powered by a single 18650 battery which does a decent job of keeping the vape going throughout the day. Users should get several hours of solid vaping before the battery needs to be recharged.

Smok G-Priv Pro 80W Battery

There is a very well-placed USB-C charging port on the side so that the vape can stand upright while being charged instead of laying on its side.

Screen

The vape uses a sizable OLED color display screen that is easy to read. At the top, it displays battery life, and beneath that is the wattage in big letters and numbers. Underneath the wattage display is resistance, voltage, timer, and a puff counter.

G-Priv Pro Pod

The 5.5 ml pod is arguably the best thing about this starter kit. What makes it stand out is the unique refilling system. The top cap slides back to reveal the filling port.

This system is much more efficient and convenient than anything else on the market today. Also, the fill port is large enough to accommodate almost any juice bottle.

Another cool feature is the tab on the side of the vape that controls airflow. Slide it back and forth to open or close the airflow fully. This vape works best with the airflow fully open, but it is not bad fully closed either.

Smok G-Priv Pro 80W

It is a great direct lung vape with the airflow open and solid restricted draws when fully closed. However, it is not for mouth-to-lung vaping.

Also, when the airflow is fully closed on vapes like these, there are sometimes whistling sounds and other strange noises. Not a problem here. This vape works very quietly on every airflow setting.

G-Priv Pro Coils

The mod comes with 0.23 and 0.4 ohm LP2 mesh coils. The pod is also compatible with the 0.6 ohm DC LP2 coil. The coils do an excellent job producing a perfect balance of flavor and vapor, and they also do not leak.

Each coil in the LP2 series has three o-rings that do an excellent job of preventing the juice from getting in the connection.

There might be occasional leaking because most mods leak a little bit, but there will not be serious problems.

The flavor is perfect on these coils when they are used within their wattage limits.

Smok G-Priv Pro 80W Starter Kit

  • The 0.23 ohm coil is rated for usage at 20 to 45 watts and vapes well within that range. Anything between 30 and 45 watts is optimum, creating warm and rich vapor.
  • The 0.4 ohm coil is also good, but it is rated only for 25 watts, and it is best to stick around that wattage.

It does not produce as much vapor as the lower resistance coil, but it is highly flavorful.

Compatible Juices

Since this vape comes with two sub-ohm coils, it is best to buy 80/20 or 70/30 vegetable glycerin to propylene glycol liquids because they will produce the most vapor and will not kill the coils.

How Long Do the Coils Last?

These coils can last a week or longer if they are used with the proper liquids. However, using these coils with 50/50 liquids at high wattages will kill the coils.

Also, do not use the coils at wattages above their tolerances, as doing so will also reduce coil life.

How to Use the Smok G-Priv 80w Kit

Smok G-Priv Pro 80W

Follow these steps to get the most from the vape:

  1. First, prime the coils by dripping nicotine into the wicking
  2. Second, push the coil into the bottom of the pod by twisting it inside until the two lines are perpendicular to the two walls at the pod’s bottom
  3. Next, push back the top cap and expose the fill port. Stick a syringe or bottle nozzle into the hole and fill the pod to capacity
  4. Place the pod on the mod and wait five to ten minutes for the juice to thoroughly seep into the coil. Doing this will reduce the chances of burn hits and extend the life of the coil
  5. When the coil is fully primed, follow the instructions below

Button Combinations

  • Five clicks to turn on/off
  • Press the up and down buttons to lock/unlock the wattage
  • To lock/unlock the whole vape push the fire button three times
  • To clear the puff counter press the down and fire button
  • Press the up and fire button to change the screen’s color

Competing Products

Smok G-Priv Pro 80w vs. GeekVape Aegis Boost Plus

GeekVape Aegis Boost Plus

The Aegis Boost is better suited for people who want something with solid build quality. The device is IP67 rated, meaning it is resistant to dust, shock, and moisture.

Additionally, it has a slightly more ergonomic design that makes it more comfortable to hold.

However, the Smok G-Priv Pro is better suited for higher wattage vaping and produces slightly warmer vapor.

Also, the G-Priv Pro is less expensive than the Aegis Boost Plus.

Smok G-Priv Pro 80w vs. VooPoo Vinci X

VooPoo Vinci 2 Kit OLED

The VooPoo Vinci X comes with a much better starter kit than the Smok G-Priv Pro. Again, it is a better starter kit, not a better vape.

The vapes compare very well, but the difference is in the starter kits. The VooPoo currently has a limited edition starter kit that comes with four coils!

Our reviewers have seen kits with three coils, but not four.

Final Thoughts About This Kit

There are not a lot of things to complain about here. These vapes are getting better and better every year, and this device is an example of these improvements in action. The only criticism is that it does not do mouth-to-lung well.

The best thing about this vape is the sliding top fill system. It makes refilling more convenient and less messy. Also, the flavor from these coils is excellent, as is the airflow.

Honestly, there are too many good things to say about this vape, and it is impossible to list them all.
