There are many pod mods out there, but not many perform as well as the FreeMax Onnix. Its airflow control is superb, and it comes with two coils, giving users many options when it comes to finding a way to vape.

This is an excellent vape for people who want an amazing vaping experience without buying an expensive box mod.

FreeMax Onix Review

The FreeMac Onnix is a portable and ergonomic pod mod that is ideal for on the go vaping. It uses an onboard 1,100 mah battery that is both draw-activated and button-activated, and it has adjustable power output. Additionally, the battery section is well-built and durable, and it has a sleek and portable design that makes it comfortable to hold and easy to transport.

FreeMax Onnix Design

The pod holds 3.5 ml of liquid and can handle salt nicotine, and it has an adjustable airflow system. It is very well-built, and it comes with two coils that are ideal for mouth-to-lung and direct-to-lung vaping.

Overall, this device is ideal for people who want something easy-to-use and is portable and inexpensive.

Vapor Production

The pod comes pre-installed with a 0.5 ohm OX Mesh Coil, and this is the coil that should be used for producing clouds. It gets hotter than the 1.0 ohm coil and can be vaped at 16 to 20 watts. Remember, the hotter the coil, the more vapor it will produce. However, it will not produce as much vapor as a box mod.

Power Modes

The Onnix has several power levels and the output depends on the coil inside the pod. The 0.5 ohm coil fires and 20, 18, and 16 watts, while the 1.0 ohm coil fires at 13, 11, and 9 watts. Output can be adjusted by changing the coil or adjusting the power output settings.

Safety Features

The Onnix has all of the typical features that come with a mod, including overheating protection. Additionally, each device comes with a security code that is used to verify the product’s authenticity.

The FreeMax Onnix Kit

FreeMax Onnix Starter Kit

The Onnix kit is fully loaded. It comes with a pod, two coils, and a type-c charging cable. Additionally, it comes with an easy-to-read user manual, a warning card, and a warranty card. Be sure to read the manual and use the device as it is intended to be used; otherwise, the warranty will be voided.

Internal Building Quality and Design

The design and quality of the device is exceptional. Its form and size makes it comfortable to hold and transport, and the device has held very well so far without malfunctioning. The only drawback is that the firing button can get scratched. Other than that, there are no build or design quality issues.

Battery Performance

The Onnix’s 1,100 mah battery functions very well and can last quite a long time. The 1.0 ohm coil lasts two refills before needing to be recharges, and the 0.5 ohm coil lasts for one pod. That’s a lot of vaping when considering the pod holds 3.5 ml of juice. Additionally, the type-c cable allows it to fully charge in an hour.

Battery Indicators

The Onnix has an LED light that indicates the battery’s life:

  • Green: 71-100 percent
  • Blue: 36-70 percent
  • Red: 0-35 percent

Airflow

There is a small airflow hole and an airflow tab. Sliding it to the right opens the airflow and moving it to the left restricts it. It has just the right amount of friction and is easy to adjust. Also, it does not loosen, staying comfortably tight.

FreeMax Onnix Colors

The preinstalled 0.5 ohm coil is for DTL vaping, and the draw ranges from restricted lung almost to MTL, depending on the airflow setting. Leaving the airflow open results in a better vaping experience because the vapor is too hot when the tab is fully closed.Airflow works best with the 0.5 ohm coil. It accommodates tight and loose MTL draws.

The only problem with the airflow is with the draw activation. It does not work all that well with the 1.0 ohm coil. The user has to inhale comfortably deep to get the vape going.

Onnix Pod System

The pod is very well designed and carries a lot of juice. 3.5 ml is more than enough, considering the vape’s low wattage output. It also sticks very securely to the battery because of the magnetic connection. Do not expect it to wriggle around or come off by accident.

Besides the connection and juice capacity, the pod has a comfortable convex mouthpiece and a very light tint. The plastic’s tint makes it easier to monitor juice levels than it is with other pods.

FreeMax Onnix Pods

The 0.5 ohm coil is an SS904L mech coil that uses tea fiber cotton for wicking, and it works best with regular liquids with 0 to 6 grams of nicotine. The 1.0 ohm MTL coil is a dual vertical kanthal coil that also uses tea fiber cotton wicking. It works best with 35 to 50 mg salt nicotine liquids.

How Long Do FreeMax Onnix Coils Last?

Coil longevity depends on how they have been primed and what kinds of juices they vaporized. If the coils are adequately primed and are not vaporizing sugary juices all the time, they should last a week or longer.

How to Use the FreeMax Onnix

The Onnix is easy to use. It comes with the sub-ohm coil pre-installed, and it pulls out of the base of the pod. Whether using this coil or the other, be sure to prime it first. Drip some nicotine liquid on the coil’s wicking and let it absorb for five minutes. Afterward, push in the primed coil, making sure it is completely inside. Fill the pod with juice and let it sit for five minutes. This gives the coil plenty of time to absorb the liquid inside. Finally, put the pod on the battery.

Step-by-Step Button Operation

  • Click the firing button five times to turn on/off
  • Click three times to change the power settings
  • Click four times to switch between draw activation and fire button control

How to Refill the Onnix Pod

The fill port is on the side, but the pod has to be taken off to access it. The port is protected by a black silicone tab. Remove it and refill the juice using a syringe. Syringes are easier to use than nose cone bottles and cause less of a mess.

Competing Products

FreeMax Onnix vs. Uwell Caliburn G

Uwell Caliburn G colors

The Caliburn G is a good device that offers a terrific vaping experience, but the specifications on the Onnix are a bit better. The Caliburn G only fires to 18 watts, it has a 690 mah battery, and it only comes with a single 0.8 ohm coil. Additionally, the Caliburn G’s pod only has 2 ml of juice capacity. The Onnic is more powerful in terms of wattage and battery life, it has two coils, and more juice capacity.

FreeMax Onnix vs. Maxus 50w Mod

Freemax Maxus colors

The Maxus is an entirely different animal because it is a box mod with a tank. It has a much more powerful battery (2,000 mah) and greater wattage output (50 watts). Vapers who are no longer satisfied with pod mods should try the Maxus box mod.

Pros&Cons

The Positives

  • Excellent airflow
  • High juice capacity
  • Powerful battery
  • Flavorful coils

The Negatives

  • Firing button gets easily scratched
  • Draw activation mechanism does not work well

Final Thoughts

This is an excellent device that will serve anyone who buys it well. The best features are the airflow and the coils. The airflow is very easy to adjust, and it allows the user to move between tight and open draws, not airy and slightly restrictive or tight and a little tight. As for the coils, they are ideally designed to work with the airflow, whatever the setting is. The only problems with this device are the firing button and the airflow. The firing button gets too easily scratched, and the draw activation mechanism does not work well with the 1.0 ohm coil. The designers need to fix the draw activation problem, at least.

Even with those two small problems, this is an excellent pod mod that is affordable and a high performer. To answer the question in the meta data, this is one of the best vapes of the year. If you have any thoughts you would like to share about this device, please leave a few comments below.
