Innokin is one of the few vape manufacturers that are not scared to try new things that will innovate vaping technology. Take for example the entire line of Coolfire box mods that have come out, all of them made use of features that were not available in most other box mods that came before them. With the new Innokin Coolfire TC100 (there are other versions of the Coolfire IV so that we will call this one the TC100), Innokin once again tries to introduce new and exciting features on their devices.

The great thing about this Innokin mod is that it is practically idiot-proof. If you can read then, you can use the TC100 without any hassles. In fact, whenever you use a new coilhead, the TC100 will adjust the settings automatically for you. The interface of the device also allows you to dive down into the settings and learn how to tailor-fit your vape experience to your particular liking.

In my opinion, the Coolfire TC100 is probably the best box mod for beginners, but before I start rambling about how much I love this box mod, let’s dive down and examine it a bit further so you can decide for yourself if you would like it too.

The Kit You’ll Receive

  • The Innokin Coolfire IV TC100
  • A USB charging cable
  • Two Innokin stickers

If you’re getting the starter kit it will also come with:

  • The Innokin iSub V sub-ohm tank with an SS coilhead pre-installed
  • 0.5-ohm pre-made coilhead (kanthal)
  • An extra 510 drip tip
  • A bag of extra O-rings
  • An Innokin vape band to protect the tank
  • The Design and Build Quality of the Innokin Coolfire IV

    Looks and Design

There are four types of Coolfire IV box mods (the Storm, the TC 18650, the Plus, and the TC100) and they all share the same basic design. The Coolfire IV has nicely rounded edges, so it is easier to grasp and hold. It is quite comfortable to use regardless if you have large or dainty hands. The position of the fire button along the top edge of the device is also pretty neat because you can choose to use your thumb or your pointer finger to fire up the device.

Just like the other devices that came from Innokin, the Coolfire IV has a small, but uncluttered OLED screen that displays all the important info that you need. You can see the resistance of the coil you are using, the voltage output of the battery, a battery life indicator, a puff timer (the mod will shut off automatically if you press the fire button longer than ten seconds), and a larger font display for the wattage or temperature (for TC mode). The brightness of the screen is just right so that you can read it easily in any lighting condition.

The overall design of the Coolfire IV is not that flashy; you can even say that it is rather plain-looking compared to the mods made by other companies, which may appeal to some people and turn off others. Personally, I would have liked it better if it came in other color options other than the regular blue, black, and red that Innokin offers.

    Build Quality

Innokin knows how to make high-quality mods, and the Coolfire IV is no exception, especially the TC100 model. The mod feels beefy and solid, it does not feel plasticky, and you can tell that it is well-built when you hold it in your hands. There is also no button or battery rattle even if you shake the mod vigorously. However, one gripe that I have about the Coolfire IV is the protruding 510 connection. I get it that it is supposed to prevent atomizers from scuffing up the paint on top of the mod, but the 510 connector protrudes a bit too much that it creates a noticeable gap between the atomizer and the mod, and that little gap can be annoying to look at most of the time.

A Quick Look at the iSub V Sub-ohm Tank

You can get the Coolfire IV as a standalone mod, but it also comes in an all-in-one kit where you can get the mod and the iSub V sub-ohm tank, and I recommend that you get the kit because the atomizer is worth the extra cost.

This tank is quite easy to use thanks to the convenient top-fill design, the automatic juice flow shut off, and the easy coil replacement. The auto shut-off feature of the juice flow is pretty ingenious because it automatically prevents you from flooding the coils when you refill the tank. However, you need to be careful when you unscrew the top cap because a single O-ring at the base only holds the glass tank in place so you should take care not to jiggle it too much.

Replacing the coils in the iSub V is also convenient, you do not even have to drain the tank to replace the coils. You just need to remove the bottom cover/airflow controls and then just pull out the coil from the bottom. When replacing the coil, you just need to make sure that the tabs on the coil and the groove on the atomizer line up to prevent leaking.

    The iSub V sub-ohm tank:

    • 3.8 ml juice capacity
    • 22mm base diameter
    • Dual bottom airflow slots with stoppers at both ends
    • Non-adjustable 510 pin (not recommended for hybrid mods)
    • Top-fill device
    • Innovative juice flow control that automatically shuts off when the top cap is removed

My Experience Using the Coolfire IV TC100

I really like using simple mods, I do not like devices that have a lot of bells and whistles, I like ones that are easy to understand and performs the way that I want them to, and the Innokin Coolfire IV TC is just that. I got the kit, and it was pretty much ready to use out of the box; I just needed to prime the coils up and fill the tank with juice.

I may have mentioned this before, but I rarely use the temperature control modes of most mods, mainly because most of them are not that accurate and would just cut off the power before the vape can get nice and warm. However, the temperature controls of the Innokin Coolfire IV was actually pretty accurate, I got a nice, warm vape and I do not get any dry hits.

Another thing that I liked about the Innokin Coolfire IV is that there is just a slight lag between the time you push the fire button and the coils start to produce vapors. The lag is so small that I barely even notice it.

Final Thoughts on the Innokin Coolfire IV Review

I was impressed with the performance of the Innokin Coolfire IV TC100. This simple and compact mod performs wonderfully, and the built-in battery lasts quite a respectable amount of time. I also quite enjoyed using the temperature control mode of the Coolfire IV TC100, and that is quite a statement since I do not use TC mode that much.

All in all, Innokin did a fine job making the Coolfire IV TC100, and I would gladly recommend it to anyone who wants to start vaping. However, this might not appeal that much to those with a bit more experience in vaping, but the Coolfire IV TC100 would still make for a great, on-the-go mod.

My way of understanding the significance of vaping came not only through the disruption of smoking but its effects on society as a whole. Now I bring people to vaping and bring vaping to people. I love using new gear, writing in-depth reviews and generally nerding out about vaping to like-minded people.
