The Vaporesso Gen 200 is the latest mod of the brand. It has been released from the popular GEN series of mods that have seen over three different models released over the last few years. The original GEN and its predecessors, the GEN S and GEN X were high-powered, high-performance mods. The newest GEN 200 is a dual-18650 device with a brand new Vaporesso sub-ohm tank. In addition, the iTank features a high-power output of 220W powered by the always-reliable AXON chipset.

Up Close with the Vaporesso Gen 200
The entire Gen series of mods from Vaporesso has earned high praise for their vaping performance and their exterior design. The new Gen 200 is no exception. The outer design features the same quadruple-layered exterior, giving the mod its lightweight and textured feel.
The device has a removable backplate to insert the two 18650 batteries. It is kept in place with magnets. The dimpled backside and the other surfaces of the mod make it very comfortable to hold. Its slightly curved edges also give it an ergonomic feel. The device comes in various color schemes: solid colors (black, silver, gray), while others have gradient colors.
The control panel on the Gen 200 consists of a large, 0.96” TFT screen (all-color). And it has four-button controls, including the firing button located on the side. In addition, there are three adjustment buttons along the bottom of the screen. Two of which are the up/down buttons, and the middle one is the selector switch.
There is a USB-C charging port also beneath the screen. The top of the device features the centered 510-ring. So any tank attached to the mod sits squarely in the middle of the mod, giving it a great aesthetic. As with many other Vaporesso mods, the branding and other design elements are kept to a minimum to keep the sleek and stylish look of the mod.

The Look and Feel
The entire device has an intuitive feel, like holding it in your hand gives you everything you need to know about the device. The ergonomics are outstanding since you can hold the device and control the mod with just one hand. Even with the dual 18650 batteries inside, the device is amazingly lightweight but durable. It is thanks to the all zinc-alloy build material.
The rubberized texture of the exterior prevents it from slipping out of your hand. It gives you a unique tactile sensation, almost pleasant. The back battery door feels sturdy, and no battery rattle comes from holding or shaking the device. Everything is kept solidly in place. The buttons are all solid, and the large, circular design of the power button is in keeping with the other Gen models.
How Long It Can Last?
The battery life of a dual-18650 mod depends on how it is vaped, at what wattage or temperature, and the resistance of the coils inside. What makes Vaporesso mods or any mod with the AXON chipset installed is that it comes with several modes designed to preserve battery life or extend it.
Only those modes are not available on the Gen 200, where you only get the choice between wattage mode, curve mode, bypass, and a variation on wattage mode, which is Pulse mode. You can choose any of these vaping modes from the main screen and vape anywhere up to 220W. But vaping well beneath that limit can extend your device’s battery life.
The mod also comes equipped with passthrough vaping, so you can use it even when charging. As opposed to using an external charger, the charging time within the mod can take up to two hours. But it is much faster than most others that do not have the USB-C charging port that the Gen 200 has.
What’s New About the Tank?
The Vaporesso iTank was also bundled with the last Gen device, the Target 200. The iTank features a self-cleaning mechanism that lets you clean the tank of excess build-up or residue. The atomizer also features a bottom, triple-slotted airflow control ring, and an easy-to-use, push-back top cap that enables easy refilling of the tank.
The entire tank is stainless steel and accepts the two coils included in the Gen 200 kit. There are also two glass pieces in the kit that act as the tank’s dual e-juice capacities. The straight glass piece can hold 5ml of e-liquid, while the extender piece allows the tank to hold up to 8ml of e-liquid.
The two coil heads included in the kit are sub-ohm. It features mesh-style coils with resistances of 0.2ohms and 0.4ohms, respectively. The tank uses a simple press-fit coil installation method to remove and replace the coils much more manageable. The 0.4ohm coil is meant for better flavor and is best vaped at 55W. The other coil is best vaped at 65W for those big, beautiful clouds.
Getting It Started
The Gen 200 operates in the same way many of its predecessors did. It has a simple five-clicks-on/off mechanism for the main power switch and a three-click method to access the device’s other settings, both for vaping and the display. The addition of the middle selector button makes navigating the device easier.
The selector button lets you toggle between different outputs, from wattage to bypass and curve mode. There is no temperature control mode on the AXON chipset. But several other modes give you more control and flexibility. The selector button allows you to access the Settings and vaping info menu to control your screen settings and see the puff counter.
The vape handles high wattages well. But the mod worked perfectly even at the recommended settings for the included coils. The device is lightweight and easy to use, especially if you’ve used a Vaporesso device before. The flavor production from coils is great. The tank has a good airflow control system to deliver intense flavor and massive clouds.
The Competition
Vaporesso Gen 80S
The Vaporesso Gen 80S is almost the same device as the Gen 200. It is only the 80S that takes a single 18650 battery instead of the dual 18650 setups for the Gen 200. The device has the same design features as its big brother. But it has a slimmer profile as it only takes a single battery in its frame. The device has a smaller TFT screen that is more elongated than the Gen 200. But it also features an AXON chipset inside and is also bundled with the iTank with the identical Gen series coils as the 200.
Geekvape Aegis L200
The Geekvape Aegis L200 is the successor to the first-generation Geekvape mods. Then, they were famous for being nearly indestructible. The Aegis L200 continues in that tradition with its IP68-rated water-resistant build. But it is lighter than the previous models. The L200 features a sturdy outer build and has a dual 18650 setup that can power the device to output 200W. The Aegis L200 also comes with a new Geekvape sub-ohm tank. It can hold up to 5.5ml of e-juice and features two sub-ohm coil heads from 0.2ohms to 0.25ohms.
